National Tree Planting Day at Garissa Teacher's Training College with Prof Kithure Kindiki as the guest of honor. During the event, 10,000 trees were set to be planted across three locations, with the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) contributing 400 diverse trees.

The Govt thro @NDMA_Kenya has rolled out social safety nets cash transfers under @hsnp_kenya to beneficiaries in Garissa, Tana River, Isiolo & Samburu counties. A total of Ksh129M has been disbursed to 23,825 routine beneficiaries in the 4 counties. Each beneficiary gets Ksh5,400
@hsnp_kenya 2/ @hsnp_kenya is an unconditional cash transfer programme targeting the poorest arid counties in Kenya. The expansion to Garissa, Tana River, Isiolo & Samburu is part of wider Govt agenda to bring poor vulnerable HH under social protection to withstand vagaries of climate change
3/ @NDMA_Kenya implements @hsnp_kenya which is part of the larger Kenya Social and Economic Inclusion Project (KSEIP). KSEIP aims to strengthen delivery systems for enhanced access to social and economic services and shock-responsive safety nets for poor and vulnerable households
@hsnp_kenya 4/ Beneficiaries use @hsnp_kenya cash transfers on food, household items, water, health care, education, clothing, transport etc. Some of the transfers are used for non-consumption transactions such as repaying debts, saving, or providing informal support to vulnerable relatives.

In the current payroll, Turkana has 37,355 beneficiaries, Mandera -20,353, Marsabit -19,117, Wajir -18,090, Garissa -7,172, Samburu -7,215, Tana River -5,937 & Isiolo -4,571. @hsnp_kenya gives vulnerable households the means to cope with impacts of adverse shocks e.g drought.
Ongoing @hsnp_kenya cash transfers: Government disbursed Ksh641.5M to HSNP routine beneficiaries out of which beneficiaries in Mandera received a total of Sh109M, Marsabit-Sh103M, Turkana-201M, Wajir-Sh97M, Garissa-Sh38M, Isiolo-Sh25M, Samburu-Sh33M and Tana River-Sh32M.
