Shamu Garcon (The Pit 10:00-11:15, 02/13/18) is a long-time favorite in the Cajun circuit and and is considered by many to be one of the finest traditional Cajun bands around. Don’t miss doing a Cajun two-step or waltz (someone will show you how) with this band.

The Cajammers (The Pit 8:15-9:30, 02/13/18) has been plays an exuberant mix of Cajun, Zydeco. Unique to the group is a trio of female fiddlers who get people up and dancing to the Cajun two-step, waltz, and swing. Don't know how? No worries; a free dance lesson will be given.

Tomorrow is the Big Day - Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday! The biggest, oldest and most authentic Mardi Gras celebration is right here in Durham. Street celebrations, 5 stages of live music. All free, all volunteer and citizen funded. Festivities at 6:00, music 7:30 at Motorco.

Ragweed Brass (Fullsteam, 9:45-11:00, 02.13.18) With a repertoire that blends original tunes with classics of the jug band and old N’Orleans days, they spring up from the ground to make folks hum, clap, dance, and tap their toes.

The Tan and Sober Gentlemen (Fullsteam, 8:00-9:15, 02.13.18) This band aims to explore the Celtic roots of North Carolinian music, and to play it with a fire and intensity (actually we mean INTENSITY). The result is Scotch-Irish hillbilly insanity they dub "Celtic punk-grass."

Coleslaw (Blue Note Grill 8:15-9:30) started off with the traditional instruments - bass, banjo, guitar, and mandolin – but then they kept growing. They added drums, trumpet, sax and a saw. This is not your grandma's bluegrass.

The Wiley Fosters (Blue Note Grill 8:15-9:30) is led by the indefatigable William Dawson, formerly of the Squirrel Nut Zippers. This ever morphing collective puts on a completely different show every time so you are always bound to see something new!

Boom Unit Brass Band (Motorco 7:30-8:30) mixes soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop, rock and pop into a unique gumbo with a New Orleans twist. With some of the areas’ top horn players, fiery solos and unbeatable energy, this music will have you up and dancing!

The Bulltown Strutters are a colorful bunch of musicians known for their second line parades that leave everybody dancing in their wake. If sequins, not taking yourself too seriously, and just plain losing yourself in happiness are things you want, then then you'll have it.
