We are an inland fundraising branch that successfully raises funds with store collections and flag days but need more volunteers to help. Views our own.
David Hastings has been volunteering with the RNLI for 48 years. As Branch Secretary of the Durham RNLI fundraising branch, he’s helped the branch raise nearly £500,000 and pioneered the fundraising innovation of ‘Betty’s 5p pots’. David has received a British Empire Medal (BEM).
Humbled and blown away by the generosity pf the public supporting #Bettys5pPots in Sunderland and County Durham area - over 2,700,000 5p coins now donated (if placed end to end would stretch for over 30 MILES!!!) to help @RNLI#SavingLivesAtSea
Massive Thank You to everyone supporting the @RNLI's #Bettys5pPots Appeal in the Sunderland and County Durham areas to help #savinglivesatsea.
Delighted to advise that the total raised in this area in just 5 years and 9 months is now a whopping £140,000
Our crews from @DunmoreEastRNLI, @KilmoreQuayRNLI and @RosslareRNLI have been blown away by the response to the rescue of the Lily B cargo ship in 6m swells, with almost £6,000 donated so far, and they just wanted to say a big thank you 🙏
The combined might of three lifeboats was required yesterday to save a stricken 4,000-tonne ship in huge seas off the Irish coast. An amazing job by the volunteers of @DunmoreEastRNLI, @KilmoreQuayRNLI & @RosslareRNLI, who successfully battled for 12 hours to save the vessel.

Today should have been the day the world started watching the finest athletes compete for Bronze, Silver and Gold. Instead, we wanted to take this chance to celebrate our medal winners and their incredible feats of bravery in conditions some of us can't even imagine...
The first weekend of beach patrols in England consisted of multiple rescues, major first aid & countless preventative actions, all while our lifeguards adhered to social distancing measures & wore appropriate PPE. More lifeguards will be returning to beaches in the coming weeks.
The government may have set out plans on easing lock down. They may have made suggestions that cost lives!
Please be mindful that open water including reservoirs hold many hidden dangers which is why @unitedutilities do not allow swimming in there reservoirs. #60SecondsOfSummer
