12 of the 20 fastest growing are African. In fact 2nd, 3rd & 4th are all African: Ethiopia, Guinea, Uganda.

Surprisingly, several large African economies not in the top 20 (yet) including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana.

I express my sorrow over the loss of the lives of our citizens who died due to the sudden landslide disaster that occurred as a result of the Belg rains in Gacho Baba and other districts of the Gamo Zone in the South Ethiopia Region. Le Président de la Commission salue les progrès notables accomplis par la République centrafricaine, sous le leadership du Chef de l’État, en matière de sécurité, de relèvement post-conflit et de développement économique durable, notamment à travers le Plan national de développement (2024-2028), l’amélioration progressive de la situation sécuritaire, la mise en œuvre du processus de désarmement, démobilisation, réintégration et rapatriement (DDR/R) des groupes armés, ainsi que le redéploiement de l’autorité de l’État sur une partie croissante du territoire national.

Le Président de la Commission encourage les autorités centrafricaines à persévérer dans les efforts visant à la sécurisation durable de l’ensemble du territoire national, à la consolidation d’une démocratie apaisée, ainsi qu’au renforcement du vivre-ensemble et de la réconciliation nationale.

During our review in Gondar City, we assessed the progress of the Megech Irrigation Development Project. The project encompasses a total area of 870 hectares and is expected to irrigate approximately 17,000 hectares of land. It has now reached an important stage with the successful completion of a key milestone—the river diversion. The remaining activities are progressing on schedule, and once the Megech dam is completed, the irrigation benefits are expected to significantly enhance the area’s agricultural productivity.

On October 29, 2025, the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) issued a letter addressed to H.E. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission.

In the letter, the TPLF falsely accused Ethiopian Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed of undermining the Pretoria Agreement by misrepresenting his October 28, 2025, remarks—taking them out of context. The TPLF claimed the Prime Minister stated he had negotiated only with three of the seven individual negotiators rather than with the TPLF as an organization, thereby contradicting the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (COHA) signed in Pretoria on November 2, 2022. The TPLF cited this as evidence of the federal government's non-implementation of key provisions, contributing to the "waning" promise of peace under the agreement.

Regarding the Red Sea

We believe that the Red Sea issue is a legal, historical, geographical, and economic matter that must be approached calmly and thoughtfully. When we ask who decided to deprive Ethiopia of access to the Red Sea, it is clear that institutions were not involved. It is therefore appropriate to question who made such a vital decision. Ethiopia cannot exist in isolation. Our message to our neighbours is that as Ethiopia grows, it will serve as a source of development and prosperity for the entire region. What we seek is shared growth and mutual progress.
