The Communist Party CONGRATULATES the American people on the 250th anniversary of their Declaration of Independence!
From Texas, Executive Chairman Haz Al-Din delivers a speech directly responding to US president Donald J. Trump’s recent provocations.
& everyone is gassing this Knicks team to distract from underwhelming they are. This championship would've meant a lot more if it were obtained during the Melo era. Instead it was won by this lame (or "auraless" as the kids might say) team lead by a bunch of Jersey dudes lmao.
Noticing that it's mainly white reporters who've been maligning Wemby. They've called him everything but the hard r lol. It's funny to see how quickly their mask slip when they feel like they've got an easy target (a 22 yr old French kid).
What is a novel for? Is it just to “make us feel” or is it to expand our imaginations of the real? If it’s the former, pornography is better. If it’s the latter, the author must be better able to imagine the present than others, ie: he has privileged access to a viewpoint that is obscure to most.
A Great Novel today would have to have a very high level understanding of Artificial Intelligence agents & would likely utilize them formally! We don’t need a novel to tell us “it’s sad to be a victim of the system”— we need a novel to help us *imagine what already is materially the case but is obscure & esoteric to most people* — police brutality is easy to understand, the IRS is not.
My brother just got back from Italy and Greece was showing me this bizarre way of rendering rock formations he found in Pietro Perugino's Agony on the Rocks, I said it was like a backwards echo of that pixel-sorting glitch effect
“There’s simply no way that poet I respect appreciates the poetry of poet that I hate.”
This is what a fan always assumes. That artists care about something more than art. But they do not. Otherwise they would not be artists.
A poet is not like a “fan”— a poet is far more curious than a “fan”— it is this curiosity itself which inevitably leads to creation. To be curious about what music does not yet exist. This sort of curiosity is not reserved to some explicit subset of things in the world— a poet consumes & appreciates everything
But the poets themselves— they are not at all like how “fans” imagine poets to be— as Nabokov points out in Pale Fire when Kinbote rides along with John Shade: “From the inside of the supermarket, through a plate-glass window, I saw the old chap pop into a liquor store. When I returned with my purchases, he was back in the car, reading a tabloid newspaper which I had thought no poet would deign to touch. A comfortable burp told me he had a flask of brandy concealed about his warmly coated person.”
The music critic says less about what music is good & more about what music is “a good accessory” in terms of being asked “what’s on your playlist”— a song being a gauche accoutrement to some milieu, this is what a critic says of a song. “Not a good look to be caught listening to that.”
This was simultaneously the peak of Insane Clown Posse… Britney Spears Circus… HBO’s Carnivale… the Fratellis… Cirque Du Soleil becoming popular etc. I think it was a deep psychic intuition for the dawn of Clown World.
Why are Tucker Carlson, MTG, and Thomas Massie fascists, rather than AOC? What actually, materially makes them to the “right” of AOC?
Leftists keep “warning” us about how Tucker, Massie and MTG are “hijacking” leftist rhetoric, and that they’re actually fascists.
But it’s always been people like AOC who hijack “socialist” rhetoric and materially employ it in service to monopoly capital and imperialism. The textbook definition of fascism.
AOC is never coded that way because most “leftists” are really just liberals who think the refusal to virtue signal cultural liberalism is a greater indicator of fascism than ones stance on a literal genocide.
After watching the Zane Lowe interview, I can only hope that this album truly lives up to the hype. Not sure he'll ever live it down if the reception is bad.
