JUST IN: Saikat Chakrabarti has conceded the race. It will be Connie Chan vs. Scott Wiener in the contest to replace Nancy Pelosi.
“I want to congratulate Sen. Scott Wiener & Supervisor Connie Chan on their victories & thank everyone who participated in this election."

NEW: In a letter, @TomSteyer's campaign manager urges patience as ballots are still being counted, touting what the campaign has “already accomplished” while not ruling out a path to the top two in CA's race for governor
Currently:
Hilton (R) 28%
Becerra (D) 25%
Steyer (D) 20%
So proud of my boss, @EleniForCA for being the top vote getter among any statewide non-incumbent as she heads into the general election in November with the best team behind her.
Eleni will make a great state Treasurer!
Bass did stronger than expected and Becerra is almost certain to advance following yesterday's California primary. Lots of votes left to count, and takes to warm up but our first is the anti-establishment current coursing through the state has its limits https://t.co/8ARVmNggyz
Connie Chan was struggling in the race to replace the liberal icon in Congress. Then Nancy Pelosi endorsed her campaign.
In San Francisco politics, that backing may be worth more than $10 million.

I wrote about the Pelosi succession in SF. Well, the results are in. Or in enough.
Pelosi was able to get her candidate, Chan, into the second round, and beat back the former AOC chief who jumped in to primary her.
But the frontrunner is still the 🦒 - Wiener

The Democratic establishment swung back in California on Tuesday.
Karen Bass advanced to a November runoff after a better-than-expected showing in early returns, while Xavier Becerra was in solid position to make the runoff in the governor’s race. https://t.co/gNXOnT4Qsq
Tonight is shaping up to be a tough night for Silicon Valley and the tech sector.
Matt Mahan, the tech-backed California governor candidate, has conceded and had a poor showing given all the spending for him.
Self-funder Saikat Chakrabarti is not looking strong in a San Francisco congressional race.
Eric Jones, another self-funder from the tech community, is currently trailing outside the top two in a different Bay Area race (though it's close.)
And Ethan Agarwal, a tech entrpreneur who some thought would mount a serious challenge to Ro Khanna, is a total non-factor in the South Bay.
Supervisor Alan Wong's party erupted into excitement as early results show he's leading San Francisco’s District 4 race by a landslide.
This follows a rollercoaster year for the district, with the recall of Joel Engardio and the brief, controversial appointment of Beya Alcaraz.
Thank you, San Francisco! Tonight, the voters sent a clear message: they’re ready for a new vision on housing affordability, ICE accountability, smart guardrails on AI, single payer healthcare, and affordable clean energy. Even more than that, San Franciscans are ready for results. This campaign is powered by people who believe deeply that government can make a real difference in people’s lives, and that’s what I’ll deliver in Washington.
San Franciscans understands that in the face of rising authoritarianism, we can’t return to the pre-Trump status quo. In Congress, I’ll do what I’ve done throughout my time in public leadership: stick my neck out for bold ideas that make people’s lives better and more affordable. I’ll go to the mat to defend immigrants and trans people, to deliver real results on housing affordability, and to restore government’s ability to deliver on its promises.
Tom Steyer projected optimism to a room of supporters at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco Tuesday night, even as early results showed him trailing in third place.

The vibes at Xavier Becerra’s party are tipping toward ebullient: cheers erupt each time results flash on a big screen. Surrogates are sharpening anti-Steve Hilton attack lines, and a crowd is gathering by the stage to hear Becerra speak as Paul Russell’s “Lil Boo Thang” plays.
