Something has to be said about the brilliance and discipline of Iran's campaign so far.

Since the very beginning of this, Iran has never been after big explosions and mass casualty events. They know where everything is located and could harm a great number of American servicemembers, and cause some very photogenic blasts.

But they have strictly adhered to a game eplan that's laser-focused on degrading the enemy's capabilities, rather than looking for a spectacle. They prioritize effectiveness over everything else, contrasting the colonizers' charlatan shock and awe approach with the certainty of methodical, strategically-placed, ever more precise and painful hits.

So they have gone relentlessly after the US military's eyes and ears in the region, making American command progressively blind and deaf while trying to fight on the other side of the world.

And the Americans have no other way of fighting: their one doctrine is heavily reliant on extremely expensive, sophisticated, and often practically irreplaceable sensing and monitoring equipment. What do they do when it's made useless?

We can imagine screens in war rooms in CENTCOM, the Pentagon and the White House going blank: no signal detected. Again and again and again, dozens of these installation are being dismantled.

And even if they occasionally have a backup, guess what: Iran has 100,000 more drones, and they're coming.

The US is an alien invading force in the region: they don't know it, they don't belong, and nobody likes them. They can only trust their toys. But the Iranians are breaking them one after the other, making their decision-making more difficult and prone to costly errors, and crippling their ability to defend their assets.

At this point, American servicemembers know they are not much more than sitting ducks in West Asia. They talk to each other, they know what's up, who's out, and what went offline. They know that a missile or drone with their name on it can appear any minute, and have to operate under terrible stress in a very hostile environment they have absolutely nothing to do with. Zero moral cause.

And lights are going out on their screens at a steady, scary pace, slowly crushing the confidence of the entire chain of command.

They see Iran's fearsome map. They know their enemy is highly capable, dedicated, dug in, and defending home, freedom and dignity.

Minimal waste of energy, the least amount of violence, and maximum results, while forcing the enemy to carry the burden of certain more pain and degradation in store. That's how Iran defeats a military that has 100 times its war budget.

And their highly-motivated native and Shia spirit hasn't even been tested. I'm not sure they ever imagined fighting the US would be this easy.

Excuse me for being too much of an ayatollah, but this world cup should never have been played and everybody should have boycotted it. With Gaza undergoing a holocaust, Lebanon being destroyed and Iran under attack by a US-led coalition, and with ICE terrorizing Americans and foreigners, this has just felt wrong all along. We all know and feel it.

The powers that be must never be allowed to rely on our conformity and desire to feel normal and ok to legitimize their horrors and atrocities.

No celebrations, no festivities, no holidays, no special days. All of it feels like shit.

The card of avoidance and nonparticipation is one of the strongest we got, and we abandoned it completely. It is all part of the normalization of fascism and genocide. There is no joy and no pride in tournaments and competitions played against a backdrop of untold, organized suffering.

We need to learn to say no, or we're doomed, and doom others, too.
