This whole situation feels like it spiraled way out of control. He spent over $1,000, declined a receipt check, and suddenly it turns into accusations, detention, police, and things almost getting physical, only for it to end once he finally shows the receipt. I get that refusing a receipt check is usually no big deal, but with a cart full of high-priced, unbagged items, some clarity upfront might’ve helped. Would a clear sign at the door about checking expensive, unbagged items be reasonable, or is that still crossing the line for paying customers?
