Currently, Gulf carriers capture a massive share of Eastern India's Europe-bound traffic because their hub-and-spoke models offer unbeatable frequency and competitive pricing for price-sensitive passengers.

For an Indian carrier to make a Kolkata–London route sustainable (even at 3x or 4x weekly), two things need to align:
1. CCU as a regional gateway: Pulling in seamless feeder traffic from the North East, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan.
2. Corporate yield growth: Sustained premium-cabin demand from local trade and industry.

With Air India and IndiGo expanding their A350/787 fleets, the operational capability is there—it's now down to whether the route can deliver the margins these long-haul jets require.
