On the night of August 8th, a 31-year-old female doctor diligently completed her duty, as she had done countless times before. After finishing her shift, she shared a quiet meal with her juniors at 2 AM. Exhausted from the long hours, she sought a moment of rest. With no designated room provided for doctors, she settled down to sleep in the seminar room, a makeshift refuge for those who work tirelessly through the night. Little did she know, this would be the last time she closed her eyes with a sense of routine comfort.
Let’s think about the children in these images. Callously exploited and psychologically destroyed. They are not images. They are humans who will live with this forever and all for the twisted pleasure of the disgusting men who trade and swap this misery. And don’t call it child ‘pornography’. journalists. It is ‘abusive images’.
Rob Burrow's final message took my breath away
"By the time you watch this I will no longer be here"
I was with his family as they put spades in the ground at what will be his new MND centre yesterday
What a man
But what an incredible family too
They're on @BBCBreakfast today
Congratulations to Merseyside author @PeterFarrell60 whose transatlantic thriller - his first novel - about a working class couple who wins the lottery is to be made into a film!

I’m aghast at this figure
In this one hospital, they covered 726 doctor shifts with PAs in a 6 month period
726 SHIFTS?!
That’s 4 shifts PER DAY!
Did patients know they weren’t being seen by a doctor? Did they consent?
This is totally out of control!
There is a little coffee shop, where two people arrive and approached the counter.
“Five coffees please. Two for us and three hanging.”
They paid, they took their two coffees and left.
I asked the waiter. "What’s this about hanging coffees?"
“Wait and you'll see."
Some more people came in.
Two girls asked for a coffee each, they paid & left.
The following order was for seven coffees and it was made by three women - ‘three for them and four hanging coffees.’
I was left wondering...what is the meaning of the hanging coffees, they leave.
Then, a man dressed in worn clothes, who looks like he might be homeless, arrives at the counter and asks sincerely...
“Do you have a coffee hanging?"
“Yes we do, sir.”
They serve him a coffee.... I got my answer.
People pay in advance for a coffee that will be served to whoever can't afford a hot drink.
This tradition started in Naples.
Amazingly, it has spread throughout the world’s cities and towns.
It’s also possible to order not only "hanging coffees" but also a sandwich or a full low cost meal.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could all start doing this in the cities and towns where we live?
Small kindnesses like this can impact so many lives, in ways we could never imagine.
Maybe we should all try it.😊❤️
⚠️ I’ve had patients assume “junior doctor” meant medical student level
- yet they’re doctors who just aren’t GP/consultant yet- no matter how senior
⚠️ I’ve had patients assume “physician associate” is a senior doctor because “the name sounds grander than GP”
Let’s not pretend this hasn’t been deliberate
Purposely infantilising the name of one group & grandiosing the name of the other?
All done in the name of blurring lines & manipulating patients
This is shocking and I think many people don’t even know about the assistants and how much they are allowed to do with patients - even though they aren’t medically trained doctors. So why are they paid MORE than Junior Doctors??
Had a 4th Year Medical student with me today
He was fantastic- exactly at the level I’d expect for his stage
But in no way capable of running a clinic independently…he’d be aghast even at the suggestion!
The fact we have PAs with HALF his training running clinics in the NHS right now is frankly criminal
We are heartbroken to learn that Richard Lewis has passed away. His comedic brilliance, wit and talent were unmatched. Richard will always be a cherished member of the HBO and Curb Your Enthusiasm families. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and all the fans who could count on Richard to brighten their days with laughter.
I’m so sorry and sad to hear about the brilliant Steve Wright.
He was a Happy Mondays favourite from the 80s, making us all laugh while we drove around Manchester on the dole.
@MartinSLewis Local journalism was also on it early. This was @NickWallisch in 2011 on Inside Out, a regional investigative series with a track record of listening to little people with big stories. The programme was axed by the BBC three years ago. https://t.co/4NDvDljyai
