🎁HBT Christian Reichardt @Chemie_UMR who turns 90 today. He championed synthetic and physical organic chemistry of dyes, and he is most famous for his work on solvent effects in chemistry. His book “Solvents and Solvent Effects in Organic Chemistry” https://t.co/GvBHs5CK20 first published 45 years ago has become a classic text that is available in the 4th Edition co-authored with Tom Welton https://t.co/4Cu5A1672e on @imperialcollege. Reichardt was born in Saxony, studied chemistry first in Leuna-Merseburg, formerly GDR, and then at Marburg, FRG where he received his PhD for work with Karl Dimroth https://t.co/M3UYMQxH8L. All his academic career he had spent at the Univ. of Marburg. He has given invaluable advice as a referee for numerous journals and most notably for @angew_chem.
