@dan_abramov Agreed. I don’t understand the aversion to context providers. We changed our app’s state management to use context and it’s so much cleaner across the app. A few nested providers in one component that makes the whole project so much more readable and maintainable.
How do you take care of your well-being as a developer? My top three activities are weightlifting at lunch, weekend hikes, or 9 holes before work. All three feel great physically and make it easy to disconnect, unwind, and refresh myself mentally. #developer#health
A new year, a new MDN! 🎉
If you’ve accessed the MDN website today, you probably noticed that it looks quite different.
We've made some changes to create a clean and inviting website that makes navigating our content as easy as possible. https://t.co/04u027iqJv
Excellent thread on improving the code review process! I think code reviews are a great opportunity to grow as a team, help junior devs, and work towards a maintainable codebase. Thanks for the suggestions!
Your code review has been open for three days. You have two approvals, and your cursor is hovering over GitHub's "Squash and Merge" button. A comment comes in.

Sound familiar? Several more: 🧵
A coworker recently shaved off his (very long) beard. At front end standup everyone noticed. At product standup, none of the backend devs did. Seems right.
On the practice green someone says to me “that looks like a @RickShielsPGA drill!” When he left for the first tee he said “let’s make Rick proud today!” And I proceeded to definitely not make Rick proud through my 9 holes 🤣

I built a shift scheduling app in Rails that was a total hack job 🤣. But it really prepped me for bootcamp! Rebuilding it now in Flask and React on the weekends.
@saronyitbarek We just did this for a project. Definitely not easy to do it completely custom, but initial work was about a week, and we’re still iterating on it. If it helps any, I was able to get through the struggle largely bc of the confidence I had from your podcasts!
I know this is trivial #docker knowledge, but #til that docker-compose automatically sets up networking between containerized services. So to connect to my CouchDb container from a Node container I just need to write http://couch:5984 and not have to worry about IPs 🤯
