so much of my life has been carved out by going against the grain.
When we look at history, change rarely, if ever comes from good will, but from the status quo being challenged.
I’ve written a new show that I will premiere this summer at the @winnipeg@edmontonfringe and the @halifaxfringefestival
If you have people in Winnipeg, Edmonton, or Halifax, that you think would rock with me, please tag them or make the connection, so we can start to build.
We all have our own ways to express ourselves, so I never try to speak for people (unless asked), but instead, I try to amplify stories that I hope will resonate with a wider audience.
I’ve never put a whole lot of weight on how many followers I have, because I put more time and effort into creating the future, and showing others how they can do so for themselves.
This year marked my second year as host of the Mayor’s Arts Lunch, hosted by the Toronto Arts Foundation, where artists and recognized and supported for their contributions to the City.
It was an awesome event, and I think I did my thing as the host!!

The next poem that I want to highlight from the new album is White Chalk.
This might have been the first poem that I’ve written about gun violence. Let me know what you think.
If you can relate, what are some survival techniques that your immigrant parents drilled in to you?
For starters, “you have to work twice as hard, just to get what others will get for showing up”. Your turn!

This past Wednesday, 13 schools participated in my youth poetry competition with the York Region District School Board.
The kids created incredible work, and four schools have now advanced to the finals next month.
This is the second video from my latest album. The poem is called Fatherhood Fear, and I wrote it when I found out that I was going to be a father.

In a world that is constantly in motion, I never want to be caught standing still.
Time is short and there is always something to do, learn, enjoy, experience, so squeeze the life out of every moment!
The next track that I’m highlighting off of the new album is Responsibility, written 30 years ago, but brought back to life in a new way.

It’s amazing how some of our most painful experiences can be turned into true beauty, when we’re able to embrace them as valuable parts of our human experience
Thank you to everyone who has been passing the info along for our World Cup arts initiative.
