@TheSteinLine It’ll probably be a request for a preliminary injunction halting league action in the matter in the central district of California or in SDNY. They would have to show irreparable harm and likelihood of winning on the issues. Prong 2 is tough, but maybe.
@jemelehill@stephenasmith Hoping it’s an honest and true family conversation. Everybody is so accomplished and thriving. Disagree (even strongly), just hoping it’s all above board. I’m picturing Joe Clark and Frank in Lean on Me. Hope you guys went to get something to eat after.
@TheSteinLine@Steven_Ballmer is going to be the most vigilant NBA owner looking out for corrupt deals by other teams. Cats like him don’t blink. As @AndrewBrandt says … there will be lawyers.
@kylekuzma When do the Trump “no tax on tips” (under 25k) and “no tax on overtime pay” (also limited) expire? Asking for a friend. Does this critique still apply?
@VigilantFox No one that knows the law of contracts is afraid of this. It is a publicity stunt. While it may cost the league money in legal fees, it will be easily defeated. You don’t always envision every publicity stuntin your CBA. There will be lawyers and the WNBA will win.
@VigilantFox This is not true. While “women” could be interpreted differently re: transwomen, the league can still stipulate a definition that excludes Enes and Royce. The CBA is like the constitution, it sets out the guardrails but legislatures can write the law. Manufactured controversy.
@NateSilver538@NateSilver538 maybe, maybe … Trump hasn’t done anything significant outside of Iran. Dems have been talking about corruption, chaos, weaponizing DOJ, midterms, affordability and more. This is a strange take. Congress is at a standstill and GOP controls that. You blame Dems. Wow
@JerWhitten@dave_south39949@TrueHoop Rich people like their things. Especially the things they pay billions of dollars for. Balmer is no more or less than any of the other owners. If he can’t negotiate a slap on the wrist deal, he’ll fight. He will look all 29 + Silver in the eye and go Denzel in training day.
@JerWhitten@TrueHoop I think the other element of this is that there are 29 other owners that will also want to make Balmer a suffer for this. They are equal partners. There will be lawyers.
@JerWhitten@TrueHoop I think Balmer would consider arbitrarion, but I don’t think Silver wants that fight. This seems like a back room deal in the making for Balmer (there will likely be some penalty), but unclear about what happens to Leonard. Really interesting case.
@JerWhitten@TrueHoop Agreed. There may be more work for the NBA lawyers to do because the “presumption” may not apply. The presumption allows the NBA head start. Without it, everyone is at the same starting line. The NBA may still win.
