Trump-evangelicalism is a religious cult. It's not that the MAGA folks believe Trump is Jesus. No, it's that they wish Jesus was a little more like Donald Trump than the Gospel version of Jesus. The "Love your enemy" and "turn the other cheek" Gospel is deemed unrealistic and weak compared to the "stand your ground" and "don't tread on me" gospel of the NRA... so they reimagine Jesus, not as he was, but as they wish he was. The cult of Trump is what happens when people abandon the sacrificial love of Jesus on the cross and re-create Jesus in their own image with an AR-15 and a MAGA hat... and use him as a mascot for their political team in the idolatrous quest for power. He just becomes a means to an end.

There are literally people who claim to be Christians who are defending Israel’s bombing of one of Christianity’s oldest churches, there in Gaza… which, even more sacred than the iconic building, was filled with precious women and children, many of whom are Palestinian Christians.

The devil is a liar.

Let me suggest that he would not bless this violence.
