How i read

[Rima Evenstar @RimaEvenstar]

I hate that people are falling for this ragebait. Spoiler warning ahead.
As someone who's read the manga and already knows the story, I was immediately suspicious after watching the episode. After digging into Japanese sources, it's clear the original post is misleading and crafted to stir up drama.
There’s significant pushback from Japanese fans too. This isn't one of those "JP agrees" situations. It's selective outrage framed to go viral and spark discourse. You all know how X works at this point.

Episode 3 wasn’t bad. It was a necessary episode. It explained the Culling Games in a dense but engaging way. Sure, it leaves less of an impression than Episode 4 and might not have as much rewatch value, but that doesn't make it bad. It served its purpose.

For English-speaking viewers, Episode 3 might’ve felt rougher due to how much info was packed into dense frames. Subtitles over walls of text made it harder to follow, but in Japanese, it flowed far better, which explains the slightly lower ratings on the English-speaking side.

Episode 4 brought the emotional payoff. That said, I felt like Mai’s death was rushed, and some of those scenes could’ve really used more breathing room. I’m not sure if it was a time constraint, but while watching, I got worried that anime-only viewers might not fully grasp the weight and tragedy of what happened. It was one of the most powerful moments in the first part of this arc, especially for Maki’s character, and I really wish it had more time to land properly.

Also, not a big fan of the music choice in Episode 4. It didn’t land for me emotionally. But to be fair, it’s in line with the style used in previous seasons, so it’s more of a personal taste issue than a flaw.

Please don’t take every viral post at face value. Even some news outlets are parroting the same misleading narrative without checking the full context. It’s like a broken game of telephone, and it’s exhausting.

Stay critical. Enjoy what you enjoy. Don't let manufactured outrage decide how you feel about a show.✌️

In 2012, a Burger King employee anonymously posted an image on 4-chan of him putting his feet in lettuce, with the caption:

"This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King."

It took 20 minutes for people to track down the branch the employee worked at and contact the news.

The next morning, Cleveland Scene Magazine contacted the Burger King establishment and talked to the breakfast shift manager, who, upon seeing the offending photo, said, "Oh, I know who that is. He's getting fired."
