It's absolutely baffling to see the backlash against this announcement.
Imagine complaining that the UK is securing a multi-billion-pound private investment.
Let's look at the actual numbers: taxpayers are funding £1.3bn for local roads & a new rail station. In return, Universal is spending £5 billion to build the park and another £1 billion operating it.
Bedford(& the UK) gets 28,000 total jobs, a massive revitalization of a former industrial site, & a projected £50 billion economic boost.
The sheer cynicism around projects like this is exactly what holds the UK back. If we treat massive, job-creating investments as something to be outraged about, we only guarantee our own economic stagnation.
ALL politicians down to local councils should be made to answer a series of obscure foreign policy questions. There is a correct answer to each of these questions and any aspiring candidate who answers even one question incorrectly should be banned from holding political office
Replace all police officers with Gurkhas. Bipartisan move that satisfies twin requirements for both diversity and competence in policing. Everybody loves the Gurkhas and it makes public spaces more thrilling if you know your every move is being tracked by Gurkhas hiding in trees
We’ve created an entire class of police officers only capable of this level of banter because the funny ones get grassed up by other policemen in their WhatsApp groupchats and arrested.
🚨 NEW - Revised ‘Minority Groups Everybody Likes And That You’re Not Allowed To Make Fun Of’ Power Rankings after recent bad PR for Sikhs. Gurkhas reclaim the Top Spot
Saying they were misled gives away that your policy is to believe one group of people first based on accusations alone, make arrests on that basis and ask questions later. Henry was on the ground dying, I can't imagine he was much of a flight risk. A competent or impartial Officer would have investigated first, then made arrests based on preponderance of evidence. That's not your policy though is it, your Officers (and all UK Police to be fair) are so beholden to the cancer of Identity Politics that resulted in a young man being arrested by the people charged with protecting him while he lay dying. You have no idea how angry and disgusted people are with your group of inhuman, incompetent bullies.
Twenty-seven young migrants are hired for every British youngster as youth worklessness 'fuelled' by soaring non-EU immigration, analysis reveals https://t.co/khBzEMcHWU
Pure propaganda to suggest they're getting a grip on asylum
In 2025, the H.O. approved c. 60%-65% of asylum applications (incl. appeals)
Portugal approved only 3% - 8%!
Even France only approves c. 40%-50%
Crucially, UK approves those who were REFUSED in EU countries
The EU average is 36%, almost HALF our 60%-65%.
The Home Office's high approval rating is a major pull factor.
A significant percentage of certain nationalities (Eritreans, Afghans, Sudanese, Iraqis etc.) apply for asylum in the UK after having their applications rejected by other European nations
Disgraceful for the Home Office to try to put a positive spin on this.
There is no reason the UK can't be more like Portugal - other than a lack of political and civil service will.
It can't be ignored either that a lot of jobs usually done by young people are now done by Boriswavers.
Just another prime example why they must not be allowed to settle.
They'll age-verify your 15 yr old daughter so she can use Instagram, but won't age-verify 27 yr old Abdul from Afghanistan who claims he's 17 and wants a place in the school your daughter attends.
During the Blitz of London’s East End, propaganda implied that Cockneys said ‘We can take it’.
Their reward was to be wiped out within 50 years by a Housing Policy that gave the East End to Bangldesh.
One Japanese national who disembarked from m/v Hondius, on which hantavirus cases have been identified, has arrived in the United Kingdom on a charter flight arranged by the UK government. The national will be under health monitoring and other measures there for up to 45 days. The Government of Japan expresses its gratitude to the UK side for this cooperation.
