Here's why I support Kate Stewart’s re-election for Mayor of Takoma Park

Congressman Raskin + the D20 team support @KateforTakoma for Mayor!

[Jamie Raskin @jamie_raskin]

Good news! We’ve raised $1 million+ for Dems to defeat right-wing Republicans. Meantime, I definitely support my friend Kate Stewart for Mayor in Takoma Park and look forward to people coming together when it’s all over. We have a nation to rebuild!

People have received their ballots for the Takoma Park mayoral and city council! THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM YOUR PRESIDENTIAL BALLOT. Make sure you fill out BOTH completely, don’t forget to sign, and get them in the mail or in a drop box (there's one at the community center) ASAP

Takoma Park police chief Antonio Devaul has made our police force more diverse, community-oriented, and implemented de-escalation training. I helped hire him, and I will continue to be an advocate for a more accountable and community-oriented police force in my next term.

Some of what our police do now could be more safely and effectively done by different institutions, from interacting with the homeless to responding to mental health crises. I will push the city to rigorously examine our policing practices and consider new models of public safety

Takoma Park’s small businesses are a big part of what makes our community special, and during the pandemic, they need our support more than ever. This week I visited ward 2 businesses to distribute signs for reopening. Check out Los Pollos on New Hampshire Ave for lunch sometime!

@dyballa_2 and Eco Dev Mgr Samira Cook-Gaines recently distributed signage to Ward 2 businesses to remind patrons to wear masks & observe social distancing all part of the Healthy Business Initiative. Read more: https://t.co/DmvYVBhQza
