🚨Gary Neville on Lisandro Martínez’s comments about the Manchester United board:

🗣️ Gary Neville:

“They will come for him, but this is exactly what this club needs right now.

All the players know what’s happening, but someone needs to speak out, and we should let him speak.

I expected these words to come from Michael Carrick or the technical director, but now it’s a player speaking up about the problems at this club.

This isn’t about him disrespecting his teammates. The truth is, some players are simply not good enough to be at Manchester United. We all know that. A few good moments in the past cannot keep protecting players who are no longer delivering. At some point, the club has to move on.

Let’s be honest, this is not a strong enough squad to compete in the Champions League. You cannot expect to challenge Europe’s best when the quality simply isn’t there in certain positions.

I think the players have seen enough, and they’re tired. If nothing changes, we could eventually see more players wanting to leave. The board needs to take responsibility before things get even worse.

Finally, someone has said what’s been on everyone’s minds. We cannot keep blaming the manager every single time when the problems at Manchester United go much deeper than just the coach.”

💣💣 BOMBAZO: Lisandro Martínez disparó contra la dirigencia y admitió que el club merecía más inversión en el mercado de pases, realizó una autocrítica, defendió al entrenador y pidió que se miren "otras áreas" que nunca cambian.

🚨Sir Alex Ferguson on the greatest Premier League manager after himself:

🗣️ Reporter: “Sir Alex, who came closest to matching your achievements in the Premier League?”

🗣️ Sir Alex Ferguson:

“José Mourinho.

And I don’t say that lightly.

I’ve faced some tremendous managers, particularly Arsène Wenger. Those battles between Manchester United and Arsenal were incredible. But José brought something different.

When he arrived at Chelsea in 2004 and called himself the Special One, people laughed. I didn’t. I thought, ‘This fellow either has incredible belief in himself or he’s completely mad.’

Then Chelsea started winning.

They won consecutive Premier League titles, conceding just 15 goals in the 2004–05 season.

Fifteen! I’ve managed outstanding defensive teams, and I know how difficult that is. That’s organisation, discipline and a manager who knows exactly what he wants.

José never came to Old Trafford hoping to survive. He came believing he could beat us. He studied opponents, exploited weaknesses and made you think differently about the game.

I respected that.

Look at his career. He won the Champions League with Porto, conquered England with Chelsea and won another Champions League with Inter Milan. He even took Real Madrid to 100 points in La Liga.

Those aren’t ordinary achievements.

When he came to Manchester United, he won the Europa League and League Cup in his first season, then finished second in the Premier League with 81 points.

People can criticise his methods, but you cannot dismiss his achievements.

Of course, José could be confrontational. Sometimes he created battles he didn’t need to fight. I wouldn’t have handled everything the way he did.

But I’ve made mistakes myself. Every manager has.

What matters is whether you can lead world-class players, handle pressure and deliver trophies. José has done that at several clubs.

But there’s one thing I’d tell him if he were sitting here.

‘José, winning trophies is one thing. Building a club that continues to win after you’ve gone is another.’

That was my challenge at Manchester United. I wanted winning to become the club’s identity, not just something we achieved for one season.

Knowing José, he’d interrupt me and start listing his trophies.

I’d tell him to be quiet and have a cup of tea.

Laughs

But seriously, he challenged me, challenged Wenger and changed the way managers prepared for Premier League matches.

Plenty of managers win trophies. Very few make their opponents change how they think about football. José Mourinho was one of them.

And when you’ve managed Manchester United for as long as I did, you learn to recognise a serious opponent.

José was a serious opponent.”
