#DyeHistory : The beautiful color purple, Mauveine, or simply #Mauve, was the first synthetic dye to be discovered accidentally by William Henry Perkin in 1856 while he was attempting to create a cure for #malaria! How cool is that? 😍😈
From the people who brought you #WhatsInMyClothes only stating the percentage of cotton, polyester, just doesn't cut it. It was devised to go way beyond this. To list all of the processes and their associated chemicals used to produce final garments.
Congratulations to PhD student @aida_rafat who has been named winner of the World Engineering Day Young Engineers Competition for her innovative dyeing technology @dyerecycle https://t.co/wSUllV54kB
@golfrefugees @FashionforGood @StellaMcCartney@voguemagazine Agreed. All synthetic dyes are made not to biodegrade. That's why nothing should go to waste in the first place. We should recycle these dye molecules as much as we can just like we recycle the synthetic fibres
@LizziePaton@em_chan@thecarbontrust This figure is insanely crazy. 58 years of electricity for one week event that will happen, every year!!? How long will it take for the industry to do such events in a smarter way, or cancel them till they figure it out! But this gigantic CO2 number shouldn't fly by easily.
