Introducing the Scottish-American travel dictionary 🇺🇸🏴
We’ve put together this guide to keep the Tartan Army out of trouble in the States.
Read carefully to avoid confusing the locals, deeply offending the country, or being interrogated by Homeland Security over a sandwich.
NOW: Public Interest South Africa states that regardless of whether Warrant Officer Karl Sanders' original coffee machine is, "recovered, voluntarily returned, or remains an unresolved matter," they are prepared to provide a replacement.

I was one of the early testers of Mythos. I signed an NDA, so all I'm gonna say is:
Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists ...
Social media is creating a generation grappling with sleep deprivation, attention fragmentation, and toxic social comparison.
But as we rush to the exits, we risk overlooking a vital truth: not all tech is a toll on the soul. Full article on https://t.co/TuoJIR6JTa

Guys, apartheid really did a number on the older generation.
A month ago, I saw this beautiful garden and wanted to hire the person taking care of it. I hired this old gentleman I guess he’s in his late 50s, if not 60s.
He’s a nice guy, gets the work done, and makes my garden look beautiful too. But here’s the problem: he is suffering from what I can only describe as post-apartheid syndrome.
Every day he calls me “baas,” even though I’ve repeatedly told him to call me Ivyn. Whenever we go to the garden refuse, he automatically jumps onto the back of my bakkie to sit with the garden waste and I have to insist that he sits in the front with me. Not only that, but when I give him food, he used to sit on the floor until I started telling him to sit on the camping chair.
He’s so used to working under apartheid-era white South Africans that his mind still seems programmed for that dynamic. Even with payment, he charged me below the minimum wage. Only my wife and I insisted that we would pay him above minimum wage because we believe in living wages.
It’s just so sad to see this still happening in 2026.
Whilst we note the decision, there are few pointers the PUBLIC BROADCASTER should consider due to the now controversy associated with the review of the show:
1. Share the show’s KPI’s v/s the Show’s performance.
2. Share data from Nielsen data ( tool that provided consumer measurement & behaviour) albeit in a simple manner without showing confidential info on the show’s successes
3. Take the public into your confidence on how such big decisions are made and why they’re in the PUBLIC’s INTEREST.

Utterly fascinating listening to Dr Keyu Jin on the “China Playbook”. Feel like weeping thinking of how easily we could do this in SA but we have such poor leadership they can’t even get water in the taps.
She has just finished talking about how Chinese cities would incentivise entrepreneurs to come work and innovate in their cities. If they needed to move they would help them, if they spouse would need to get a job in the city, done, if your kids needed certain schools they would make it happen. They made the conditions easy for entrepreneurs to get on with the business of building their business.
Yet we have spent a week talking about how our IDC doesn’t have a framework that anybody can understand let alone benefit from. Kwaze kwakude ezulwini
The story continues. Get stuck in to the data and gain insight into how development finance in SA has been run. Thank you @AfikaSoyamba for the insights.
I built a database of 1,248 South African businesses funded by the IDC and NEF.
856 from the IDC. 392 from the NEF. Every company name. Every amount. Every province.
The data tells a story the public needs to see.
NEF UPDATED: https://t.co/nb2oR3LdAC
IDC: https://t.co/B7nHWtxKAq
E&O expected.
PLEASE REPOST:
I built South Africa's first black-owned electric vehicle company.
I have deployed 70+ EVs with Blue Chip Companies, Local SMEs and exported to the UAE.
I have invested R9.5 million of my own money over 10 years.
The IDC has given me R0.
They gave a white-owned competitor R69.9 million.

@BankZeroSA@MichaelJordaan@clarkshau Good morning. I have already had an in depth conversation with the support team and there was no work around. Unfortunately we can't have an NPO bank account linked to a private individuals account. I will DM though.
@MichaelJordaan@clarkshau@BankZeroSA Hello Michael. We tried the NPO option but the requirement and complexity of needing to open a personal account, deposit into the account etc made it not possible for us. A few tweaks could make it work.
