@ls_brd@WesRoth Maltese residents still rank about the top Gen AI users in Europe, before this was launched. So we designed this to level up our already AI confident population and equip it with better models.
@swogx@WesRoth The course is not about testing knowledge so there's no point getting AI to think for you. It's designed to be an enjoyable experience that gets you to reflect. We had thousands doing it and the feedback was outstanding.
@otiak43@WesRoth We are avoiding that nightmare by design. The course is vendor agnostic and we are offering subscriptions to different providers. OpenAI is one of them.
Before Malta made headlines for being the first country in the world to roll out free premium AI access to all citizens, the small country was already one of Europe’s most AI-active nations. 🤖

The course (and wider programme) is vendor agnostic. At the end of the course, people can choose a subscription from multiple vendors, not just one.
This is only the first part of the programme. We are measuring course analytics (anonymised), and they will answer many of these valid questions.
@tech_finds_@Dexerto We have had a strategy since 2019 and @MDIAmalta is currently revising it. This AI literacy programme is part of it.
This is how the course is built: https://t.co/6X9OEReSLW
More in the days and weeks to come.
🇲🇹🤖 Malta just became the first country in the world to give every citizen free access to ChatGPT Plus.
- The Maltese government signed a deal with OpenAI to provide all 574,000 residents with a free one-year subscription
- To activate it, citizens must complete an AI literacy course called "AI for All" developed by the University of Malta
- A regular ChatGPT Plus subscription costs $20 a month.

@hoangtrung1211@MarioNawfal It does that and more. This course and the subscription are also part of a wider AI literacy Programme and Strategy, which we have had since 2019.
PS: I just published some notes on how the course is structured.
