@TheDryhtscipe@mxrwanlfc This is something you can only believe & say if you think that there is only a negligible difference between “you have legal protections but there exists bigots in the population” and “the state will execute you”
@Ephebxphile No, more that our secular societies value tolerance and take a libertarian view on gay people, which is clearly at odds with your views. It’s fine to follow your religion, but surely you’d be happy in ~Saudi etc?
@lol_purify@arshgoyal13 You know what, you're right. I misread your OP and assumed you were one of the many people complaining about them taking a disclosed deal. I apologise
@lol_purify@arshgoyal13 Sheep provide a useful service, and I dislike that people are piling onto them for taking a Polymarket deal considering that the only money in esports is betting/saudi money. We all consume their work for free through headlines & adblockers, so why can't they monetise this way?
@lol_purify@arshgoyal13 exploit their position for a tiny financial gain, Polymarket are incentivised to stop them as they attempt to professionalise, to the point they have Palantir software surveilling the site for insider traders [https://t.co/NPEdbAS4PX] [https://t.co/7Vp9gvAxCw]
@lol_purify@arshgoyal13 Sure, by principle they shouldn't exist. But the only people allowed to partake in insider trading in America are those with a connection to your president. In reality, regular people will place barely any bets on these markets, and *if* somebody linked to Sheep decides to -
@lol_purify@arshgoyal13 As I said, they can make whatever markets they like, but they can't force anybody to bet on it. Nobody is placing money on this.
@lol_purify@arshgoyal13 for a market to exist. The sponsorship is likely just to promote betting on Polymarket instead of traditional/crypto sportsbooks so they can take a % of the volume in fees.
@lol_purify@arshgoyal13 is a "conflict of interest" is if a) Sheep decide to start matchfixing, or if b) volume suddenly appears for "X player to transfer to Y team by Z date", which will never happen as it would be impossible to beat the insiders. Nobody will bet on that. You need a side to bet against
@Cubbyxx Probably nothing. There isn’t markets for “Which team will Jojopyun move to next!?” because a) there would be barely any volume and b) it would be impossible to win without insider information.
The deal is probably just to increase market share in the sports betting market.
@Gary_Poynton Saka went from being Arsenal's best player to being the weak link after Arteta ran him into the ground for years, but surely it's normal to play young players for the full 90 every week
