We are firmly convinced that we are invincible, because the spirit of mankind will not be broken by the imperialist slaughter. Mankind will vanquish it.
@DilettanteryPod During the mid 1800s, almost everyone in Paraguay spoke Guaraní in addition to Spanish, the official language. After the War of the Triple Alliance, the new government installed by the Allies banned the teaching of and even speaking of Guaraní in schools.
@UnseenOps Always wished the Assassins got more attention, Eversors in particular because they feel like what the Imperium would come up with if they tried to make Astartes without the Emperor’s crazy genetic manipulation tech
@hunterx11@LegoRacers2 He mostly went along with the suggestions of his cabinet during the lead up, and both the public and Parliament were in favor of the war once it actually started. He did keep arguing for an increased military commitment even after the war was becoming unpopular and costly though.
@disgruntledcho1@BeyondSeeds@butleriano Sometimes it's not even that close in terms of actual genetic/taxonomic relation. They claim the feral camel populations of Australia act as a proxy for what was essentially a rhino sized wombat.
@BeyondSeeds@disgruntledcho1@butleriano There's actually a school of thought that argues we should introduce species that could serve as proxies for extinct fauna and fill the ecological niches they left behind. I believe they propose introducing wild populations of true camels and llamas/alpacas to replace the NA ones
@disgruntledcho1@butleriano I’m sure it would be ecologically negative in some way but we should bring back those feral camel herds that used to live in AZ until around the early 1900s
@CaptainSaltiest@iamyomas Depends on the continuity, and Hawkman’s continuity is notoriously all over the place, but usually in the comics his wings are artificial. I would guess the idea that they’re attached to him comes from the Justice League cartoon where all Thanagarians have natural wings instead.
