The latest DAC approvals—anchored in unmanned systems, counter-UAS, loitering munitions, and persistent ISR—prove that modern defense demands true sovereign capacity. True strategic autonomy means going beyond assembly to build deep, IP-led domestic engineering.
This is a pivotal Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting, not just because of its scale—₹52,000 crore in Capital Acceptances of Necessity (AoNs)—but because it marks a clear structural and doctrinal shift in Indian military procurement.
Chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, this was the first DAC meeting following the recent major churn at the apex of India's military command structure, including the appointments of Chief of Defence Staff Gen Raja Subramani, Army Chief Gen Dhiraj Seth, and Navy Chief Adm Krishna Swaminathan.
The influence of recent hostilities with Pakistan under Operation Sindoor is highly visible in these approvals. The lessons of that conflict—where low-cost drone swarms, loitering munitions, and electronic warfare clashed with conventional layered air defenses—have pushed India's acquisition priorities away from legacy, heavy conventional platforms and directly toward asymmetric, autonomous, and electronic warfare capabilities.

The USIBC team, led by India Managing Director Rahul Sharma, spent an insightful day at the @DynamaticTech and Dynauton facility at the KIADB Aerospace Park in Bengaluru.
Witnessing the scale and sophistication of what is being built here serves as a powerful reminder of how rapidly India's aerospace ecosystem is evolving.
A few insights from our visit:
· Global Aerospace Powerhouse — Dynamatic is executing critical work for Boeing on the F-15EX and precision-engineering flap track beams and A220 doors for Airbus. World-class manufacturing, delivered out of Bengaluru.
· Defense Innovation — The Dynauton’s key work has been on the Cheel, a tactical VTOL surveillance UAV, and the Kaatil, a loitering munition UAV, both reflect India's growing indigenous defense capability.
· Sustainability by Design — The facility runs advanced rainwater harvesting and a fully above-ground pneumatics layout, sustainability built into operations from day one, not added on.
· Art and Heritage — Their dedicated museum within the campus blends heritage, cultural and industrial history, creating a workspace that connects people

For long, the global defense narrative has been dominated by 'Black Box' platforms. Nations have bought the hardware, but the 'brain' - the source code, remained under foreign control. In a crisis, a platform you cannot reprogram is a platform you do not truly own. Your national security, effectively isn’t sovereign.
Access to the interface alone is insufficient for deep modification or rapid optimization. To achieve true sovereign upgrade capability, one must own the logic, the design data, and the foundational algorithms.
At Dynauton, we have developed the complete stack - hardware, software, electronics, and optronics, all in-house. Whether it is the Cheel or Kaatil families, we maintain 100% ownership of the source code. This ensures:

𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Complete transparency of the code stack eliminates the risk of backdoor controls.
Our collaboration with Aerodata to co-develop the AeroForce-X is a testament to this philosophy. This isn't merely a foreign UAV built under licence; it is an architecture forged through collaborative design and software sovereignty. By ensuring the Digital Spine is indigenous, we will provide the Tri-Services with a platform that is immune to foreign kill switches or geopolitical shifts.
Owning the IP is the catalyst for a domestic ecosystem. It allows us to move from current technologies to future generation capabilities by understanding the 'know-why'. It builds the institutional muscle required for a rising power to project influence without foreign control.
