I have been to Kigali and you see a military officer fully armed, stationed strategically within every 10 meters. That country is not peaceful, it's fearful.
You don’t have to be like us. I always feel safe walking down kigali roads at night and seeing military, police and night watchers patrolling the streets.
You can’t drag us because our security forces ensure we’re safe 24/7. Those men and women in uniform are the nicest people-
A man, Robert Kabera; a former sergeant and musician in the Rwandan army, some few years back allegedly commits a serious offense (in his own house), upon which his own daughter calls the police on him. Sgt. Kabera, realizing the hot water he is in, flees to Uganda via one of the porous crossing points in Eastern Province.
But now, according to the Internet and social media, Sgt. Kabera - who very unfortunately has passed away in Uganda - has been rebranded as “an opposition voice against the government of Kagame.”
Kabera, may he rest in peace, fled to Uganda having never been anything but a musician in the army band. After he fled, it was reported he fell on very hard times. At one point, according to reports, the man was in the business of making mud bricks (kukuba bulooka). videos of him doing exactly that surfaced.
Then, at some point, Kabera started making TikTok videos abusing Kagame and his government. And voila! The man was elevated instantly, to “opponent of Kagame”!
Anyway, Sgt. Kabera is hardly the only person based in Uganda making videos abusing Rwanda, its leader, or its government. There are very many, and they do year after year. But it was Kabera that met an unfortunate end, allegedly murdered. Yet, before even one Ugandan security institutions, police, has either conducted an investigation or issued a report, the internet already knows who is guilty. Kagame!
This is the world we live in.
All and sundry, are falling over themselves to attribute the dastardly act to Kagame. Before so much as a post mortem report has been made. A BBC website has solemnly issued a report about how Kabera “an opposition figure against Kagame” has been murdered. That celebrated media house has put out a report heavy on insinuation, pinning the crime in you know who.
Legions of X accounts from various countries have gone to town doing the same (pinning the death on President Kagame). Guilty until proven innocent!, and even if it so happens the man is proven innocent, you can be a hundred percent certain the legions of online mob justice brigades won’t accept that. Yup, this is what the age of social media has done.
Online lynch mobs, operating with total impunity, have taken over.
We should be able to study African history without needing every historical figure to be a hero and every tradition to be morally perfect. History is not a public-relations department.
Thank you my dear brother President @CyrilRamaphosa for your warm congratulations and offer of support. We look forward to working with you and all who share this vision as we make this a truly African Grand Prix in every way possible, and take motorsport to new heights on our continent.
Rwanda; may u always be an audacious believer, daring to go where others are afraid to try, and always invest in the future!!! While others promise, you strategize, invest and deliver! May your ROI be 20x of what you ever imagined possible! THANK YOU, from an African F1 fan!
Now… why would you ask if Rwanda has airports? You guys are speaking about other African countries the way yt Americans speak about Africa as a whole. 🥴
Mans picked up a country that had just experienced one of the worst genocides in the world and he said HOLD MY BEER….now here we are, every year they’re making big moves while we watch on in envy.
