highkey edtwt & shtwt don't look at me i find yall incredibly weird and i'll never understand making a twitter profile to post about ts like it's a game or something.
The new image carousel is the biggest UX downgrade in this site's history. There was an entire art form around 4x image polyptych, especially among Japanese photographers, who I learned a lot from stylistically.
With 4 seen all together you create a mood, its very impressionist
Matthew McConaughey narrated the "Deep in the Heart," the TX wildlife film; he goes to Marfa to "recharge"; he says he loves West Texas. Yet he has nothing to say while the region is decimated. In this, he's no different than most TX elected officials.

Sharon Stone says her marriage ended in the room after her husband became furious over her decision to have breast surgery
“The doctor had come out to my house and said, ‘Look, we think you should have a bilateral mastectomy. This is really bad. And usually when they’re all the way up into here, we know before we go in that they’re cancer’”
“And I said, ‘I don’t have cancer.’ And he said, ‘You don’t get to decide that’”
“And I said, ‘I do. I do get to decide that. I’m deciding. But I am deciding that I will have a bilateral because I’m not f*cking around’”
“And my husband said, ‘This is ridiculous,’ and got up and left the room”
David: “Which part was ridiculous?”
Sharon: “That I would have a bilateral. He was furious”
David: “Not that the cancer, if it was true, might kill you? He was mad about the breasts being removed”
Sharon: “And so the doctor said to him, ‘If I had more patients like her, we’d have more women alive today. You need to sit down’”
“And I said, ‘I make the decisions, not you.’ That was the end of the marriage. That was it. He was done with me then. It was over”
David: “Oh, it ended because he ended it, not you”
Sharon: “It was just over in the room. You could just tell it was over”
As expected
Trans men used the bathroom they were required to use in Kansas under their new incredibly severe statewide bathroom ban.
As a result, the police were called on them.
They call themselves the Kansas Compliance Crew.
@RollingStone When reading through this list, keep in mind this raid was conducted on a protestor after she got home from a protest, a supposedly constitutionally protected act. Not a raid on a drug dealer or manufacturer, a bomb maker, a would-be mass shooter, or a killer, but a protester.
There's this guy on TikTok who goes into Walmarts with a calibrated scale and weighs packages of food to find many are significantly underweight. If he complains to the management, they ignore him. Eventually the stores kick him out. This has gone on for months.
Corporate gave some non-responsive statement to USA Today to the effect of if you, personally, discover you've been shorted, you can ask for a refund, but this guy investigating is still banned. Obviously this creates a bias in favor of the store since they can fail to address the issue systematically while the means of restitution requires individual consumer action, and most people don't weigh packaged food.
Don't we have government departments that only exist to handle this full time? Shouldn't it be impossible to make a series out of this if they're doing their job? If the government isn't enforcing the law, why should we respect the right of the store to trespass people publicizing the issue?
@femmepills i was just reading about a boy in 2019 who got stuck in his car in his HS parking lot, who called 911 multiple times telling them he was srsly dying and he needed help, and the fuckass police that showed up to look for his car didn't even get out or check the whole lot. he died.
HAPPENING NOW: protestors brave the 100+ degree heat in Big Bend to fight DHS border barrier and road construction through the park. Bulldozers are tearing into the national park just a mile downstream. CNN is going live on site.
This is beyond insane, even for TX: Fort Worth police just ARRESTED a man for saying "bullshit" while speaking at last week's Tarrant County meeting opposing a plan to cut nearly 50% of Election Day voting locations. He's charged with disrupting a meeting, @startelegram reports.
Google apologized to a man whose Lord of the Rings movies vanished from his digital library
After initially refusing a refund, they gave him links to the movies that still ask him to buy them again
Google has quietly stopped searching by Exact Phrase when you use quotes.
Now by default Google will return pages and pages of results you don't want. Google now thinks you use quotation marks for no reason even though quotes have specifically been the correct format for exact phrase searches on Google.
Maddenly, even using the Advanced Search page and the "This exact word or phrase" text box no longer searches by exact phrase.
I was trying to see if the air purifier company IQAir ever mentioned a key air filtration term on their website. So I typed in an exact phrase search for just the IQAir website:
" "most penetrating particle size" site:https://t.co/gIIt4CmjPW "
What I got was 6 useless pages of links to pages that do not contain the exact phrase "most penetrating particle size," but instead contain some or all of the words. That's the result I should get when I don't use quotation marks.
You can fix this behavior on a search results page by going to the "Tools" drop down menu and changing the "All results" setting to "Verbatim". There is no way to set Verbatim as the default for future searches AFAIK.
