@HoagML@RaveGreenTV He wasn’t - laws of the game say that PKs have to be played the same number of players for each team. So, with Minnesota having 10 men, we have to “reduce to equate” and the player taken out was C Roldan. Thomas was last in order to shoot.
@seatoskyjamie@MLS@PROreferees That rule was changed starting in July for the 25-26 season (leagues playing fall to spring mostly). The MLS season started in February (using the 24-25 rules) and doesn’t change rules midway through a season. It’s still the old rules for MLS.
@MLSRefStats Terrible this is what young players see the stars do on TV, and then to have it reinforced by the commentators. These players are supposed to be role models. What a disgrace.
@MLSRefStats Commentators making excuses for him and suggesting it’s an iffy send off is absolutely disgusting. Saying he’s ‘just making a scene’ and it’s just ‘spitting towards the referee, not on him or at him’ and just ‘an act of defiance’ is horrible. No wonder so many refs get abused.
@MLSRefStats This was especially confusing though and I believe incorrect- play was stopped for injury when Seattle had possession/last touch, right near corner flag. And it was dropped to RSL outside of the box, so not even in the penalty area.
@buckler_eh @5mTKO For one, many PRO refs aren’t paid enough for it to be their only job. Being paid enough to be able to train and prepare for matches on off days instead of working another job will almost certainly mean better performances.
