Some modern small aircraft use Jet A (kerosene-based) in diesel-type engines
But classic petrol engines cannot run on diesel or jet fuel without redesign

Big planes = kerosene (Jet fuel)
Small planes = petrol-like fuel (AvGas)Why small planes DO use petrol (AvGas)
Small aircraft (like a Cessna 172) use piston engines, which work like car engines:

Petrol (AvGas) is perfect because:
It ignites easily with a spark plug
Provides quick bursts of energy
👉 Jet fuel wouldn’t work well here—it’s too hard to ignite in that type of engine.
