In this week’s column, I reflect on a devastating fire in 18th-century Prague and a recent antisemitic attack on a synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi — and what both moments teach about resilience and shared responsibility across generations. Link below.
I don’t have a horse in the menorah debate, but I do wonder how it ends up discrediting the Rambam’s intellect. If he were shown new evidence, he’d have changed his mind—on astronomy, on medicine, on metzizah. Treating him as infallible feels deeply perplexing.
My new column in the @jewishsf looks at what Wicked and the Talmud both reveal about Jewish headwear — and how a simple covering can express identity, memory, and pride. Would love your thoughts.

@HilzFuld But what of gluten-free matzoh style squares? How many people have not been yotzei on pesach because of the deceptive practices of matzoh manufactures. אין לדבר סוף…
@DBashIdeas When I sang in the choir at the Great Synagogue, the Rishon Letzion would occasionally give the drasha. I seldom paid attention to what he said, since I was so close that all I could do was stare at the robe and be amazed.

@K_L_Phillips@theUL Is that the text that was on display at the Shrine of the Book? I have a memory of a card that said, “Shows damage due to extreme exposure to heat.” I also recall a much earlier dating on the card? It has been many years, though, and my memory could be wrong!

In the memories of the Beautiful 6: Hersh, Ori, Carmel, Alex, Eden, Almog, we have to bring the remaining 101 hostages home. We have to, before it’s too late. #BringThemAllHomeNOW
@DBashIdeas@Azrielb2 I’m going to encourage you to vote in the presidential election? The right to vote for president is a remarkable thing, nearly unique in our history. Also, still a Conservative rabbi, but I love this wonderful letter by Rav Moshe…
@ILikeMischief@academic_la@hansgruberlebt The charges were filed months ago under seal. This means the DOJ was able to work on the case w/o public knowledge. They do that often in high profile cases, so that intel isn’t compromised. I believe I read that the charges were from Feb.
