Today marked the official opening of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Regional Training on Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ARTs) at Chuka University, running through 25th July 2025. The training brings together participants from across Eastern, Central, Southern, Western and Northern Africa, a testament to the growing commitment to advancing livestock productivity through modern technologies.
The program is proudly supported by the State Department for Livestock, KAGRC, KALRO and the University of Nairobi. The event was officially opened by Chuka University Council Chair, Prof. Serem, with the Vice Chancellor emphasizing the urgent need for Africa to embrace reproductive technologies in animal breeding.
Speaking at the event, KAGRC Managing Director, Dr. Bernadette Misoi, reaffirmed KAGRC's commitment to enhancing genetic improvement through bull and buck semen production. She announced plans to acquire a semen sexing machine and highlighted the establishment of an Embryo Transfer (ET) laboratory.
During the training, KAGRC will actively engage in practical sessions on semen production and distribution, showcasing its regional leadership in animal genetics.
On 3rd and 4th October, 2024, KAGRC was delighted to participate in the Badilisha Kilimo Agribusiness Expo 2024 held at Engineer stadiums, Nyandarua county. In line with the theme of the even: "Harnessing stakeholder linkages for shared prosperity', KAGRC was keen on enhancing farmer knowledge on the suitability and effectiveness of animal breeding products available in the various production systems.
