"Any cultural change that pushes against the powerful interests and revenue potential of entrenched industry players - whether car manufacturers, Big Tobacco or Big Tech. Those players will push back but we continue to push ahead."

"We need to stop thinking of [AI] companies as merely businesses providing us products and services. These are new forms of empire that are consolidating a historic amount of economic and political power, terraforming our earth, reshaping our geopolitics"

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, one of the most pernicious aspects of AI is the way that it steadily erodes our trust in each other. Even if you do not use AI you are forced to wonder if/how others are using it and if you’ll be accused of using it…
What's wrong with writing with AI?
Alain deBotton says: "I don't just write to produce a certain numbers of words. I write in order to honor certain feelings, and AI can't know those feelings because it's not me.
It doesn't know what I want to say. And if I simply give my writing over to AI, it will crush my nascent sense about what it is I really want to say."
This might surprise younger people but in the ‘90s most of us knew how to read & were culturally literate. You could mention King Arthur or Citizen Kane and everyone knew what you meant. We were capable of writing essays. We had educational TV. We have lost so much, so quickly.

Shout it from the rooftops!!! Research is thinking. Outlining is thinking. Writing is thinking. Any portion of that done by AI is less thinking done by you.
Literacy. If the oligarchs have their way, the children of the very rich will have human teachers, physical textbooks, handwritten assignments, phoneless schools. Everyone else will have chromebooks, malfunctioning AI tutors and screen addiction.
"When lawyers for Kaley told Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, that her longest single day of use of the platform stretched to 16 hours, he denied that it was evidence of an addiction."

This website shows you how much money is being siphoned off from human artists by AI slop on Spotify.
Over $2.5 million lost by real people - and that's just from 50 AI ‘artists’.
Slop dilutes royalties. A major reason AI training on copyrighted work should not be considered fair use.
