@spookyh8r That’s exactly how I feel about Moses! There’s few things better, if anything is, than a deceptively short piece of writing that you can go back to over and over, and I’m glad there’s people that enjoy it as much as I do!
I wish I could have really delve into them! They seem to deep and probably even deeper the more you really understand them. I’m stuck in Moses land. What he does with the Hebrew language fascinates me to no end, and I even learn Hebrew so I can know more of what he is saying. But what do you enjoy most about Nietzsche in particular?
To love is the only way the proud will refuse to walk. Blocked from every good thing, the proud only believe they refuse them. But love is above all desires, and yet we want. Love is beyond all numbers, and yet we count. Love is even behind all annoyance, and yet we groan.
Enjoy your frustrations. Despise your desires. Most are unworthy of us. But love annoys us even when we are unworthy of it. He who only follows his desires does not see anything else. He sees through everything as a ghost who cannot relate to anything as it is.
Desire is poverty. The purchase is our receipt. I only desire to know why I desire. In that sense, I am impoverished. But when I turn away from my desires, my desires appear. In that sense, I am not impoverished. To have it, give it up. To love it, let it go. To learn it, forget everything you know.
He who cannot love his vocation cannot love his vacation. Love your frustrations, it is the only joy. Love them, for it is how the way is prepared for you. Love your frustrations more than anything, for from there your happiness is born.
Undistracted by desires, you will function effortlessly, happily, powerfully. Undistracted by the false, you are closer to the truth. Undistracted by desires, you are closer to peace. No longer fluent in death, you will bring joy to life. No longer fluent in death, you will confuse the dead.
Love cuts through all things like butter. This knowledge is greater than all magic. Do not believe in problems. Hate not the obstacle placed in front of you. Who do you think put it there? And from where did it come? Reject all subtle hatred. It is only ignorantly justified by all men. Every obstacle will remove itself from you if you are strong enough to love it.
Everywhere you go, your problems follow you. Where the hiker walks, his mountain appears. Though he escapes far into the city, his mountain will follow him there, in the shape of the city.
We hear what we are worthy to hear. We reject what we are unworthy to accept. Everything you hate, you are only unable to love, unworthy to love, have been blocked from loving. A man does not deserve to love the things he hates. He only deserves to hate them.
Do not desire thanks, be thankful. Do not desire kindness, be kind. Do not look for signs in heaven.
Be you the sign on earth.
Do not stop rowing your boat to look at the size of your neighbor’s ship.
Row your boat.
And let there be ships.
If you will complain either way, do something worth complaining.
Row.
Nothing works as we think.
Only as it is.
If we do not think, nothing works.
If we only pretend to think, no one thinks.
We cannot learn this if distracted by opinion.
And so only the ignorant learn.
Love is a miracle disguised as my chores.
Love is the accent, and the sorrow, of my soul.
Love that desires reward does not even love the reward, cannot love you, cannot love itself.
A calloused hand softens the heart. The man who loves anything is so gentle with everything.
Compared to the true, the subtle is all the same. To true love, subtle love and hatred are the same.
To true desire, subtle desire and disgust are the same. To remove the passionless and subtle hatred packed in the cells of our hearts, perform subtler humiliation.
Love is not possible! And yet it happened in my heart one day.
Such is preposterous! As opposed to what? They are dangerous! As opposed to who?
What if you’re harmed! As opposed to when? Be obsessed with love and live. Dabble in hatred and die.
The a-phile who does not believe in true love laughs at me.
But he loves to laugh.
Behold, the power of love.
Whenever you feel someone hates you it’s you who hates them. Whenever you feel someone loves you it’s you who loves them. The untrained heart can only see itself.
We are offended by the things we only pretend to love. We are hateful to the things we only want to love. We are reverent to what we would prefer to hate. But what we would hate under some circumstance we hate already in our heart. And what we would love under some circumstance we love already in our heart.
The opposite of love is not to hate but saying so and doing nothing, expecting anything, preferring anything, forgetting anything. The opposite of love is not in the darkness of hate, but to take pleasure in the obscurity.
The cup filled with wrath cannot pour out love. To swallow your vengeance and live is the only life. He who cannot see the beauty in the ugly can only see the ugly in the beauty.
The gates of heaven are in hell. To hate what hates you is to hate what loves you. To love what hates you is to love what loves you. To return hatred with hatred is the only slavery. To return hatred with hatred is the only death.
We cannot love and hate at the same time, nor love the one while hating the other, nor hate another for another’s sake. Love shamefully, you will be shameful either way. Love as a hypocrite, it is the only sincerity. Love without a good reason, you never needed one.
Love is what provides, and what satisfies, what manages, and what conquers. Nothing else. Love is listening. Love is in the heart of everything. Love is a man. Win the argument by speaking the least and improving the most. Lose your fight to win your soul.
Pride is humiliation. Anger, its own punishment. He who blocks your path is the brother of your way. When your way is blocked, a better one is being prepared for you. The way is coming, if you will only wait.
Anger is betrayal. Even anger at betrayal is another betrayal. For there are many kinds of infidelity but only one kind of thoughtful faithfulness, and many kinds of lukewarmness but only one kind of faithful thoughtfulness.
But the dead take everything the wrong way.
Anger is the idolatry of death.
Even anger at idolatry is the idolatry of anger. The more anything angers such a person, the more they should hear it, and the less we should tell them. Let the birds mock such people. The more anything offends such a person, the more they should be offended. Let the grass offend them.
A teacher takes a student far, but no farther than the teacher. The student that takes longest to learn is learning the most. Be immersed and you never need to plan or gather supplies. Be innocent and never need to defend yourself. Know who you are, and you’ll never be offended when someone else forgets.
Force is weakness. The stronger the grip the more vulnerable it is for its arrest. We only fear losing what we know we don’t have. We only demand from others what we know is missing from ourselves.
Arrogance, in its tiny forms, is forgiven easily. But the smaller the fleas, the more we need to be convinced they are the cause of all our pain.
Consensus is error. The truth, to many, is whatever seems best to repeat to others.
Complaining is unfairness. He who complains about unfairness hates fairness the most. Build up instead the altar of your heart. The light of fairness will come into it. Can the light of fairness reach the depths of the miserable, complaining heart?
What is, is and what is not, is not. What is not is the only thing that can come to be. Whatever one wants, the best sight of it is in the heart that wants it. Reach for the lesser forms while contemplating the truer and have both. To hold an object is a lesser experience than to think of it being held but hold it with grace and kindness. A part of the truth is there, in your hand.
The untrained heart can only see itself. It only mocks itself. It only hates itself. Blind to itself, it cannot see its own hatred, feel its own evil, hear its own echo. Attack yourself. And you will beg for enemies. Fighter. If you love yourself enough to fight, then first fight yourself.
Shameless selflessness. Gratuitous gratitude. Crushing kindness. All three of these prove our immortality. For to go beyond the nature of our constitution proves we are beyond the state we are contained. Happiness is the pleasure of excellence. Because excellence is the most proper state of the soul. The soul is easy to prove for eyes that deserve to see.
Love empties itself of all things. Hate cannot see love but is obsessed with being loved. Love cannot see hate but is always being hated by the ones obsessed with being loved.
We are not what we have, know, believe, or do but only how we misuse them all. The opposite of excellence is arrogance. Of ownership, possessiveness. Of value, blindness to it. So, to be great, admire the small. To be of value, look for it where it is not easy to find. Value appreciates the effort to find it. For value is a man.
Worship the ground by walking. The air by breathing. Love by loving. Love loves love. For love is a man.
But mockery is closer to worship than hatred. Desire closer to hatred than satisfaction. Ignorance closer to truth than opinion. Indifference closer to opinion than worry.
To love all who deserve it, love all who don’t. To hate no one wrongly, hate no one rightly. But to hate everyone, hate anyone. And to hate everything, hate anything.
Love is listening. For love is a man.
So give shamelessly. Give shamefully. Give with no regard to shame. Forgive shamelessly. Forgive shamefully. Preforgive with no regard to shame.
Service is wealth. To be needed cannot be taken from you. No one can take how needed you are. No one.
Do not pity the sick. Pity the hateful who die the real death. If we would betray anyone for any reason, we already betrayed ourselves in the only way that matters. All betrayal is conditional. Faithfulness, then, is unconditional.
We give away what we know we are worthy to have returned. Do not keep track of your sacrifices. They can keep track of themselves.
Grief is the mother of all happiness. But joy is the son of grief. To love the son, love the mother, or you love neither of them. For joy is a man with a mother.
Love is real. Love is a man who listens. So how can a man profit from theft, meanness, or thoughtlessness? To improve is the only profit. One cannot improve through theft, meanness, or thoughtlessness, but only through loving justice.
Love is real. Love is a man who heals. So how can a man find joy in mean and thoughtless arguments? The only thing the heart can stand to do is fall in love. Love is the enamel of the heart. It protects us from all pain, fear, and meanness. And the real death.
Love is real. Love is a man who cares. Why would a man desire anything but gentle kindness? He who seeks honey is always followed by swarms of bees. But he who follows the bees of life, though he is stung, always has life and honey in him. Do not pray for honey. Be bees.
Love is man who cares for you. Why do you always feel so betrayed? Is not love worth more than gold? 5.23 Have you never heard? Why do you care how he acts? Or how she looks? How he speaks? Or what she says? A drop of love is worth more than this. More than a pound of blood is the worth of a drop of love. So do not have a goldmine and then complain about an anthill. But have a heart worth more than all the gold in the world.
Divinity attracts. Because divinity is a man. When your wife criticizes you, thank her for going through the trouble. And if she takes your friend to dinner, pay him to have her a second time. She will return to you herself.
He that loves one because he hates the other hates both. He that hates one because he loves the other hates both. You either love both or you love neither of them. You either love them all or you love none of them. Love cannot be gently divided to be redistributed as a snack for your friends. Love is the friend.
Marvel always. The loving nature of our being proves we are beyond what we are told we are.
Contemplate always. Divinity’s yours. Do not be ashamed of doing what is good for the sake of the dust that hates you. For all dust returns to itself, as does divinity. Marvel always therefore at what compels you to move. And move.
Do not grow forgetful at what you once desired to have. The first obstacle to have her was her. The last obstacle to have her is you. The first obstacle to pray is needing to. The last obstacle to pray is thinking you don’t need to.
Do not grow angry too often unless you know everything. But if you know so much, help others learn.
I am as the grass blowing in the field. Come and step on me. But once I grab your heel, I never let you go.
Every thought you had has always existed. Before the foundation of the world, you laughed. Everyone in your way was always the way. Every feeling you had was shared with many. When you thought of them many thought of you.
Everything follows in the direction you make everything follow you like the mosquito follows the blood of your veins. Joy takes refuge in the loving heart. But hatred exiles him.
Every recitation inspires what it recites. Inspiration flows in both directions. Every act inspires its own act. Action forms in both directions. Every soul influences the formation of its prayers. Every prayer influences the formation of its soul.
Everything carries eternity. He who hates any moment hates every moment. He who hates any man hates any man. He who hates the ugly hates the beautiful. He who hates his enemy hates his friend.
Today is the prisoner of yesterday and the prince of tomorrow. Every presence interferes with the substance of its meaning, and every meaning interferes with the appreciation of its substance. The image often reminds us of each other even more than ourselves.
Every love endures the suffering it never desires. Every desire calls for the suffering it never endures.
Everywhere you place what is evil you make as if worthy of evil. Everywhere you place what is good you make as if worthy of good. Be good, and evil turns away from you. Be evil, and you will only see evil, because love will deport you. For love is a man with a house.
Every time you are considerate, you must let go of being polite. Every time you are polite, you must let go of being considerate. Follow any thought to its conclusion. The polite always leave. For politeness is a pleasure. Follow any thought to its conclusion. The considerate always remain. To the polite, speak politely. To the considerate, speak of matters of the heart.
Everything echoes in the proudly closed and empty heart. What you are, you seek. And as you seek it, it will be shown to you. What you are, you hear. As you are, it will be said to you.
Be glad when you don’t have your way. Otherwise you desire the way of another and are a thief.
Be glad with lots, and lots, of waste. Otherwise your neighbor will become unsatisfied and steal.
Be glad when you find the good in your enemy. It is for the sake for your friend.
Pray not for the needy but to be needed.
Consider not only what is clean and kosher, it is not kosher or clean.
Honor your exes as your second parents. If you gave them your heart, let them have it. If they warmed your heart, let them burn it.
Do not burden another with what you yourself cannot bear.
Love their ingratitude. For that is gratitude. Love their unkindness. For that is kindness.
Surrender to the impossible. It is the only thing that is possible.
Love Him above all things. For that is heaven.
Mastery finds the hands of the novice. Necessity finds the hands of the master. The needed one always finds the ones who need him. Be needed, then, so you can be found.
One problem always solves another. This knowledge is greater than all magic.
There are no problems, only impatience. Worry is carelessness pretending. Anxiety is thoughtlessness pretending. Passion is indifference pretending.
Reverence is hatred pretending.
Desire is poverty pretending.
Success from helping is to stop needing to. So, teach the hungry. Do not feed them. Give the hungry man his bakery, not bread from yours.
A man thinks with his hands and handles with his mind. The thoughtless think they are thoughtful. The thoughtful know they are as if thoughtless.
A thief owns less than the poor. He owns less than nothing, for he owes. A tyrant controls less than the servant. He controls less than nothing, being uncontrolled. To hate is worse than to die. To hate is to suffer and die the real death.
To win, give up. To have, let go. To disagree, agree. To concern yourself with everything, worry about nothing. To lose everything, hold on to anything. Be stingy and lose what you have. Be generous and more will return.
Be glad when they complain. A weak complaint proves your success. A strong complaint proves your weakness.
The more admirable you become, the less you will be admired. The more admirable your love, the less anyone can see it. The more admirable your work, the less anyone will consider it. The more you do, the more will be asked of you. But whatever is asked of you gives you the power to do it. This knowledge is greater than all magic.
A small accomplishment is easier to praise than a great one. To be unworthy feels like being above it. Heavy is the broom in the unworthy hand. But mine is my staff that comforts me. Transfigures me. Saves me.
A problem in marriage is only the hot water for the tea of your souls. Let it bring out the good inside you all along.
Pray for them to be unfair. The more unfair they are, the better you will understand fairness. What a wonderful thing to contemplate the nature of fairness. It is worth the unfairness.
A wife is a book. An open book. She hates having to teach. But the man who doesn’t put down this book to listen to his wife is a man that hates having to learn. We hate what we think we love by what we think we hate.
What she doesn’t want of yours, sell. What she disrespects of yours, give away. What she doesn’t enjoy from you enjoy of her, and what she disrespects of you, respect of her. For every excuse you give, you owe her seven. The more pathetic the excuse for them, the more we love them. But the more pathetic the excuse, the more we harm them.
The unfaithful think they care about the beautiful. But the unfaithful desire beauty at the expense of the beautiful. Divinity forces all to desire beauty. But not to love the beautiful. Love is not only a pleasure, but an expense. Do not desire beauty at the expense of the beautiful but love the beautiful at the expense of your desires.
Praise keeps you there. Turn away from praise and other worthless things. Love without praise is the only kind with birth pains. Because it is the only kind which gives you birth.
When your eyes see misdeeds, see divinity moving there. Divinity is in the pits of the fruits of our sins. When your eyes see a man fight for fairness, see unfairness moving there. Unfairness is in every step in the pursuit of fairness.
You escape nothing. There is no escape. You are closer to justice than the air you breathe. You cannot escape your blessings. Nor your punishments. Do not scheme. Or complain. The only poverty is the ignorance of this.
Divorce proves the divine. For the soulless body would have become accustomed to how we always were. How you desire to be treated, treat each other better. And even more, I say to you, love them anyway.
She’s the most beautiful, but I love her anyway.
To love is the only way the proud will refuse to walk. Blocked from every good thing, the proud only believe they refuse them. But love is above all desires, and yet we want. Love is beyond all numbers, and yet we count. Love is even behind all annoyance, and yet we groan.

A small accomplishment is easier to praise than a great one. To be unworthy feels like being above it. Heavy is the broom in the unworthy hand. But mine is my staff that comforts me. Transfigures me. Saves me.

Pray for them to be unfair. The more unfair they are, the better you will understand fairness. What a wonderful thing to contemplate the nature of fairness. It is worth the unfairness.

3.42 It only hates itself.
