@galeforceVC The legalities involved can be pretty complex, so companies will have to tread carefully. Not just here in the States, but internationally, as well
@galeforceVC Great point about the trend towards hiring more contractors, but there are the legal aspects involved. Employee classifications aren't just about a company's preferences. Federal & state labor laws set firm rules for who counts as an independent contractor versus an employee
@SamuelLazarus just software. This is state-by-state compliance with employment law. A vendor’s software and service can help simplify compliance with employment law, but each state has its own processes, timelines, etc for setting up a new employer in their state
@SamuelLazarus Hmm. In my experience, Gusto has a solid process in place for adding states. However, before fully implementing payroll in a new state, the employer has to file with that state, get approval from the state, etc. Gusto helps a lot that process, as do ADP and the rest. But it’s not
@calixo888@_buildspace@_nightsweekends Hi! I’d like to build a site that helps working parents navigate parental leave options based on where they live and the size of the company they work for
@villi Thanks for sharing this. What do you think some of the key risks are that people should be aware of? Like, maybe rapid headcount growth outpacing meaningful utilization of talent, or safety concerns not receiving enough attention?
@jonnym1ller (And so I didn’t have to spend an hour googling to find something that someone had already written that compared and contrasted those three things)
@jonnym1ller I used it last night to better understand how three things relate to each other. My prompt was “compare and contrast ____, ____, and ___.”
Most of what it said I already knew, but it definitely filled in some gaps in my understanding
@dan_abramov I’ve been using both OpenAI plus Bing the past few days. When I’ve used length prompts, the responses have been very different. Maybe give Bing a try. You’ll need either the Bing mobile app or the Edge browser for that, fyi
THREAD: @USDOL can help businesses hire the right talent with 1 simple fix: updating Schedule A (a list of occupations that don’t have enough workers).
DoL hasn’t updated this list for 30 years, even though it has full authority to do so. https://t.co/pkxTpbsC3C
We're using a particle accelerator and AI to read a lost library from a dead empire.
People have been trying to read the Herculaneum Papyri for 275 years.
With your help, we'll do it in 2023.
