America’s Joby 🇺🇸 *Magical* Air Taxi Service — preparing to launch commercial operations — using a plane made by a company that belongs to the Chinese government-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) 🇨🇳

Joby's Air Taxi Service — Take a look at how we're preparing to launch commercial operations with our electric air taxi once it is certified by the FAA.
We received our Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate more than two years ago and have since tested aspects of our planned service using a Cirrus SR22, including operating an on-demand passenger service and taking payment from external customers for a charter service.
today @Cirrus_Aircraft went IPO in Hong Kong after a dramatic process. The IPO raised about $179 million USD after expenses. Current market cap about $1.28 billion USD. Cirrus was acquired by China's state-owned AVIC group in 2011 and had very good sales increase during COVID
There were almost 30k 🚁 tours at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport last year (and 60k in 2015), which is quite a lot, unless you're an eVTOL company that de-SPAC'd in 2021. But eVTOL developers are starting to give this actual, existing market another look: https://t.co/N6sFudblnL
@elanhead@theaircurrent@jonostrower I read it. Air tourism is now advertised as „an early use“ while „everybody is waiting for the FAA“. This leaves the false notion of an evTOL mass market open. It also conveys that the FAA is slow, while actually development is more complex and costly than protagonists assumed.
Sergio @SMG_Consulting is inundated with so much more “false accusations” hatred from @MarkMooreVTOL & others — when he again ranks struggling #eVTOL Volocopter as his #1 “based on promise, not progress” — compared to when his previous ranking briefly reflected reality with EHANG

Announcing ElevateOS: a proprietary suite of software tools we've developed to enable the safe and efficient operation of a high-tempo, on-demand air taxi service.
ElevateOS includes a pilot app, an operations core, and a consumer-friendly rider app – each of which we have been authorized by the FAA to use alongside our Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate, which we received more than two years ago.
We’ve been using ElevateOS to test our air taxi operations with a single-pilot, four-seat Cirrus SR22 aircraft.

Joby (again) says: “magical electric air taxi service” 🪄 Is it magic, deception, or desperation? 🔮
Fixed-wings lead to motion sickness 🥴 esp. during mid-flight shallow banked turns due to wings — resulting in puking passengers of small planes 🤮
cc @bgarrettglaser@elanhead
With commercial operations planned as soon as 2025, we’re hard at work preparing everything we need to run an efficient and magical electric air taxi service – operational procedures, software, pilots, aircraft maintainers, and more.
Join us on June 20 to learn more about how we’re preparing for the launch of electric air taxi operations:

Joby says: “magical rider experience” 🪄
Small fixed-wing aircraft reality says:
“motion-sick rider experience” 🥴 when speeding, flying fast, and having to make mid-flight shallow banked turns due to wings — resulting in puking passengers 🤮

The on-demand, by-the-seat electric air taxi service we plan to operate is very different from air operations taking place today. By developing our operations and our software together we’ll be able to deliver seamless, efficient service and a magical rider experience.

@chineseflyer How is this critical thinking?
He chose to insult industry peers in order to make a point he would have been better off highlighting in isolation.
If anything he is fueling my skepticism towards US eVTOLs if they feel the need to act this way.
