"All men are moral. Only their neighbor is not." -Steinbeck
It's no virtue to tolerate people who agree with you; even the Nazis did that. -me, see Matt 5:46
The more things change...
"Some people’s idea of [free speech] is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage."
—WINSTON CHURCHILL, speech, Oct. 13, 1943
@beckerlaw@BarackObama@MichelleObama Trump is a more blatant grifter while in office than the rest of them combined. I can only assume either you're awarding him bonus points for not even trying to hide the corruption, or you're less aware of reality than Biden.
@Gosleepriya 1050
500 divided by 2 is 250 - but this doesn't say it's divided by 2, it says it's divided by half. Dividing something by a fraction is the same a multiplying it by the inverse of the fraction, so dividing by 1/2 is the game as multiplying by 2/1, aka 2.
500x2 +50 = 1050
@JonahDispatch Another part of that involved looking up how much we spend annually on homelessness. It's astonishing. Billionaire fortunes wouldn't go that far, even if you could liquidate their assets at market value.
@JonahDispatch I explained this to my kids once, when they asserted Bezos could single handedly end homelessness. It's not just the supply and demand pressure on the stock price (which woud be dramatic), but how much is the company worth if the current leadership abandons it?
@VanyaWright@sfrr024@JonahDispatch@dyingscribe You're confusing stocks with taxes. One is extracted, the other is a voluntary, mutually-agreed upon transaction both sides chose in order to benefit themselves.
@VanyaWright@JonahDispatch@dyingscribe You don't think he actually has a trillion one dollar bills stored somewhere, do you? You understand his net worth is on paper, an estimate of what he'd make if he could magically sell all his assets without affecting the stock prices by doing so. He can't. It's not real.
@xKBLx_Cripple@NTE_GL Check the UI transparency setting in the config - on PS5, anything other than 100% (no transparency) and the direction icon becomes nearly invisible, PC might be similar.

NTE Hotori Character PV丨Echoes in the Vessel
The Anomaly within the vessel, the Wine Maker, is still waiting for its old friend.
It took the form of that friend's reflection, cast into a cup on the day they made their promise… forgetting how time reshapes all things.
But the flowers... they remember.
@SirBylHolte I mostly agree with your points, except primarily number 2. Changing the race of a character is sometimes a big deal, and sometimes nothing. It has less to do with white-to-black (or whatever) or black-to-white, and more to do with the particular character and story. (2/2)
@SirBylHolte But if the best actor available to play a white character happens to be Samuel L Jackson, then you must violate one or the other. You can change the character to black because the best actor is black, or you can reject the best actor to stick with the race of the character. (1/2)
@Rentalcarman914@lady_valor_07 It's worth repeating, this is NOT TRUE everywhere in the US.
For example, Oregon has one of the highest minimum wages in the US, with no lower rate for tipped workers. Your servers are getting over $15/hr before tips, with annual COL bumps.
This is even more common globally.
