‘I DON’T WANT TO SEE THIS HAPPEN AGAIN!’

Senator Pia Cayetano pointed out that Senator Risa Hontiveros’ question to private prosecutor Atty. Amando Virgil Ligutan was “not proper,” saying it was like a closing statement in the proceedings.

“When we allow this to happen, na-shortcut na natin ‘yung process!” Cayetano said during the second day of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial on Tuesday.

Hontiveros earlier asked Ligutan if Duterte’s remarks in the videos shown as evidence in the trial are an impeachable offense. She then clarified, “My question po had to do with how the evidence is material to the allegations in the articles of impeachment kasi nga po hindi naman napapatunayan na the vice president actually sought an assassin. My intention was not to provoke a closing statement."

Presiding officer Chiz Escudero later ruled to strike from the records the prosecution’s response to Hontiveros.
