So I’m a chronic over-writer, the worst you’ve ever seen. But I’ve cut 8,000 words in the past few months and I’m 2,000 words away from my goal. Under-writers please send good, concise vibes my way! #WritingCommunity#writersoftwitter#writing
@Zelda_CThorne I think proper grammar would be,“Everything HE thought he’d known about gardening had been warped…” or maybe that would just be my editing suggestion.
looking for critique groups to join to get feedback for my novel but can’t find any local ones. are there any virtual groups people recommend? i have a very tight budget of $0 so looking for more of a peer group option than a workshop. #WritingCommunity#writerslift#writingtips
@marylockejolley the end. i don’t know why but i get lazy at the end, which makes my characters lazy so they can never wrap up their dramas. i leave them swimming in all their problems.
@Nickyshearsby22 I love exploring their contrast, specifically between how they feel internally and how they present themselves externally. what’s different? what stays the same?
@JennRJohnson I just number them. If I have multiple POV’s then I’ll use their name at the beginning of the chapter. Sometimes I’ll put the date to show how much time has passed. Naming chapters feels a little cheesy to me.
@Gretch_Writes for big projects i make specific playlists. i like to think of them as the book’s soundtrack. sometimes i even make them for specific characters, the soundtrack to their particular scenes. this process helps me as i create characters & then helps me stay true to them.
@mirna0722 i have three main characters & they all have the same antagonist: feeling inferior & then shame about their inferiority. they all react to it in different ways: putting up a wall, becoming withdrawn, overcompensating with external strength.
