@schundkomisija I think this modern concept of "whimsy" is a response to the panopticon. We're being watched and judged at all times. Labeling one's outfit/behavior/whatev as "whimsical" anticipates accusation of "weird." So its like a protective move for ppl who are afraid to be non-normative.
