Binance is tweeting their intention to legally pursue me over a token deployment on a EVM wallet i control. Honestly, I’m still trying to figure out what was so catastrophic.
I wasn’t trying to launch a scam, or do anything shady. I The whole point was to understand the process, not to create a project.
I deployed the token to a wallet address that I have.
What’s confusing is that I never came across any rule, contract, or guideline stating, “DO NOT EVER TOKENIZE ANYTHING IN YOUR LIFE.” If that was a contractual violation, I'd expect it to be written in the fine print.
The token absolutely did not have a roadmap, marketing, investors, or a community.
From my perspective, deploying a token to a wallet I have shouldn’t automatically be treated as malicious. People learn by trying new things. Developers deploy contracts all the time to test networks and even to mainnet for educational purposes.
I’m not saying platforms can’t enforce their own rules. Of course they can. But if the rule is that following a tutorial is prohibited, then state that in writing.
At the end of the day, I learned the latest in BNB token deployment, and that apparently a tutorial can destroy lives. Not exactly the lesson I was expecting.
