James Talarico says Christianity is “the most violent religion” and has done “more damage” than Islam.
Let that sink in.
That’s not just historically illiterate. It’s a direct insult to millions of Texans whose faith built our churches, charities, schools, and communities.
The theology of voting 🔽
Christians have been deceived and manipulated on this issue for decades. You need to understand what your vote IS... and what it IS NOT.
Step 1. Make sure you're on the right "team."
Bill Maher: "Did you know that a black fourth grader in Mississippi is two and a half times as likely to be proficient in math and reading as one in California? Mississippi is kicking our ass in education and for way less money."
In the Bible, God established 3 institutions and gave them specific roles:
Family, Church, and State
God has placed the primary responsibility for charity on the family (1 Tim 5:8) and the church (Galatians 2:10), but noticeably there are no examples in the Bible of God commanding the State to forcibly redistribute wealth for charity.
This is because with governments, you generally get more of what you INCENTIVIZE and less of what you PENALIZE.
This is why when states like California or Washington throw billions of dollars max-boosting "care for the homeless", they end up overrun with homelessness, they do not solve homelessness.
Why? Because with governments you tend to get more of what you incentivize and less of what you penalize.
Christians want the family, church, and state to each do their God-assigned roles.
In general, Progressives want the government to do the roles of the family ("we'll teach your children and provide for you") and the church ("we'll decide what's morally right and wrong")... but they do not want anyone doing the role of the State (#DefundThePolice, protect law-breakers, riot against law-enforcers)
Milton Friedman on government’s four major functions:
1) Ensure national defense
2) Protect citizens from “abuse and coercion by other citizens”
3) Define and uphold private property rights
4) Maintain a judicial system to adjudicate disputes and enforce rules
Before the internet and political tribalism, we had something stronger: Discipline.
Bill Dillon explains how the Great Depression forged a generation where "there was no such thing as a Republican or a Democrat". We were just Americans. 🪖🎖️💪
