💙 A huge thank you to everyone who supported Police Care UK’s #StressAwarenessMonth campaign this April! 💙
Your support helped us reach thousands with vital information, personal experience, and resources that can truly change lives.
Every click, like, comment, and share helped us shine a light on stress and trauma in UK policing - especially for those serving and their families.
Stress is the body's response to pressure, and is a frequent companion in policing that can impact the mental and physical health of officers.
Left unchecked, it can lead to burnout, affect decision-making, and take a toll on personal relationships.
Recognising the signs early is critical. If you're feeling overwhelmed or notice changes in your mood, energy levels, or behaviour, it's time to take action.
If the symptoms of stress you are experiencing are related to harm caused by your policing role, please see our help sheet for advice > https://t.co/idknjm4xCT.
Or visit https://t.co/Y5USj5gMiu to see how we might assist you.
Together, we’re breaking the stigma around stress and trauma in policing, one conversation at a time. Mental health matters all year round.

Policing comes with unique stressors that can affect even the most resilient officers.
But stress doesn’t have to define your career. Identifying these triggers is the first step. Awareness is key to building resilience.
If the symptoms of stress you are experiencing are related to harm caused by your policing role, please see our help sheet here > https://t.co/DN7dUoippF.

It might be Blue Monday, but we’re flipping the script and calling it "Brew Monday" - the perfect chance to cook up some kindness and show police you care.
There’s nothing like a proper brew to brighten your day and at Police Care UK, we think we’ve mastered the art of making the perfect copper’s cuppa.
Here we spill the beans (and the tea):
1. Boil the kettle – no shortcuts.
2. Tea bag first, then pour the hot water (yes, we’re that sort of person).
3. Let it brew – patience is key.
4. Add milk or sugar (or both) to taste.
The result? A cuppa perfect to share with a copper.
How do you take yours? Can you spot the deliberate mistake?
Police Care UK provide specialist clinical therapy and financial assistance to who have suffered physical and psychological harm as a result of their policing role.

Police Care UK chief executive Professor Renata Gomes has urged officers who have been assaulted on duty to seek help with their mental health.
A recent Freedom of Information request by the BBC showed there were close to 37,800 physical attacks on police in the 2023/24 financial year - an average of 100 attacks per day and an 11 per cent increase since 2021/22.
In Surrey alone, assaults on officers had increased by a whopping 40 per cent during the same period
Professor Gomes was invited to comment on the figures - alongside Surrey Police & Crime Commissioner @_Lisa_Townsend - during an appearance on the BBC Radio Surrey Breakfast Show last week.
"As members of the general public, we are expected to have 4-6 traumatic events in our lifetime, but police officers go through 400-500 traumatic events in their career," she said.
“The police community does a very, very hard job and if any of them need support please come through Police Care UK.”
