@BigActionBill@sacketology “Okay here we go for the Spuhs, San Antonio, Texas. St- , stuffon….. cas-uhl? Duh-err-in, Fox? Like the animal I guess. Vic-tuh, oh lord help us all.”
@RTaub_ That our captain who said repeatedly that he wanted to be an Islander for life would re-sign to play under a HOF GM, and play in the brand new state of the art arena that was right around the corner.
@SperryTime The way I look at it…
Whenever Pelech gets hurt, this team struggles. They basically go on skids that ruin their playoff chances without him.
This past season, was his first healthy season EVER…and STILL, we didn’t make the playoffs.
I love Pelech, but it might be time…
They still haven't seen playoff Dobson. And I think that's really where Habs fans will become frustrated with Dobber.
Playoff teams target Dobson on the forecheck, and usually by Game 3 of a series, he's coughing up pucks left and right. #Isles
@finlay171020@JayOnSC@HayesTSN@JayOnrait Sorry you guys had to find out this way. I watched numerous Dobson playoffs.
He gets forechecked and hit constantly. By game 3 of every playoff series, he’s out of gas.
I know he was rushed back from injury…but he never looked much better even when healthy.
Dobson tried to sneak off the ice early before the puck was in deep.
It's always in OT where he makes these errors. Not surprised Isles went 9-0 in OT this season.
Tonight, Habs fans will see the Dobson playoff experience begin firsthand.
Canes are gonna push him into the wall so many times, he's gonna be mush by game 4.
It's the biggest reason the #Isles chose not to pay him.
Feels like a good time to mention that only three head coaches in 120 years of NHL history have ever won the cup with more than 1 team…
Two of them coached before the moon landing. The other is Scotty Bowman.
Also, I think there's still a chance Marshall Warren can push for an NHL job, whether its with the #Isles or elsewhere.
Warren's skating was something that stood out to me as well, the only thing holding him back was his lack of confidence and rushed decision-making.
IMO, George is a lock for 7th dman next season. Albeit, he's gotta earn it in camp.
Yet, we likely won't get full seasons out of either Romanov or Pelech, so George should have plenty of opportunity.
A left side of George, Aitch, Schaef and Romy is inspiring moving forward
My Top 15 #Isles Prospect Rankings - May 2026
5. Isaiah George
There’s a lot to like about Isaiah George. The 6’1 smooth, mobile left-shot defenseman really stands out as my 5th ranked prospect.
There’s a calmness to George’s game and he makes simple defensive plays look routine. He can use his feet to separate from pressure and gets the puck moving in the right direction.
George’s biggest strength is his skating. He moves really well, closes gaps quickly, and has the mobility to defend in transition. That’s obviously huge in today’s game, if a defenseman can’t skate, it becomes very difficult to survive. And I think George can thrive.
His NHL experience gives him a lot of value. We’ve already seen that he can survive NHL minutes in stretches.
DeBoer even mentioned he’s NHL ready so his next big test is to defend harder minutes in the show. If he can handle it when he gets his opportunity, there’s a relatively short path to him sticking around and becoming a regular NHL defenseman.
Little teaser for something else I’ve been working on…
Viggo Bjorck was a force in the SHL this year. He was a league-average player across the board… impressive for a teen… and a star play-driver to boot
His statistical profile is RARE but his closest comparables are strong
Viggo Björck winning puck battles against NHL players and holding his own in the circle against Ryan O’freaking’Reilly at 18.
Because he’s 5-foot-9.5, however, as per NHL tradition, the third best player in the class will be available in the teens (just test driving this take).
Matthew Schaefer broke down into tears live on Good Morning America when he was surprised with winning the Calder Trophy…
What an incredible moment 🥹🫶
