One of the most simple tools for understanding where you're at emotionally is the following. If you are washed away by intense feelings & emotional chaos you are in whats called the demon lover archetype.

Taking a deep breathe & being with yourself can help you center yourself when you feel this way & allowing yourself to let things be as they are not as how you wish them to be.

Most importantly do not judge youself. See everything as it is, let it pass & ask yourself. Did all of those things within me allow me to see this person as he or she really are? Not only will this bring you clarity for youself most importantly but clarity about the other person.

I get it, all those "feelings" can be intoxicating but you have to be able to understand where those feelings are coming from. Most of the time they come from a place of trauma.
