sorry for the somewhat personal vent. i don't know if anyone can even understand my feelings, but i feel that everyone owes an explanation for my inactivity
no longer posting any new art on here from here on out until/unless this change is reversed, this platform has become so anti-artist and i no longer wish to have my art scraped as data by an AI
i used to feel that in the rise of occupations becoming increasingly automated and obsolete by technology, i felt secure in knowing my art can never be replaced by machine. but now i begin to question if any of that is true, my art has little value over an AI-generated picture
@NickDaDroid i still think flint was neglecting lucas to some extent though. even if not by intention, it was still neglect. and interpreting his as a grief-stricken father who neglects his son due to his obsession to find his other, missing son, is honestly a lot more interesting imo
@NickDaDroid entirely absent from lucas's life considering the upkeep of their home despite it being continuously struck by "lightning", and that flint would have to be earning some income by sheering the sheep and selling their wool in order to maintain the state of their house
@ciii_ceee it's the popular interpretation of the character that he's trying to push against in this video. but i think the idea that flint was negligent was very much the intent. i don't think him being negligent makes him a bad person or necessarily a bad father, though. he's complicated
@soyhuman00 that being said, flint's dialogue on tanetane is definitely not to be taken literally, and is more of a manifestation of lucas's internalized fears of flint violently lashing out at him after witnessing what happened at the campfire
@soyhuman00 i agree. but too much of this video is spent trying to push back on the idea that flint is negligent whatsoever. i think he really likes flint as a character and doesn't want to see him as culpable of that level of wrongdoing
@Acestarsz i agree 100%. in this video i feel like he puts too much focus on hypotheticals on why he believes flint isn't neglectful. but i think there's much more evidence within the text to suggest he is, and it also makes the narrative and flint as a character more interesting
