A great Saturday with Community! Spent the morning monitoring a dumpster for Dumpster Day, which enabled Sun Terrace neighbors to dispose of unwanted items and have them hauled away. Later, I caught up with friends, while pouring wine at the Clayton Art and Wine Festival!

“We’d still be… handling live ammunition ourselves. But at least the New Jersey base hadn’t blown up as yet.”

“I passed the last month of the war… wheeling live munitions. They didn’t explode; that was enough for me.”

Harry Belafonte was assigned to load munitions at Port Chicago Naval Magazine in 1944 at age 17. The #PortChicago disaster occurred just prior to his arrival:

“It was the worst homefront disaster of World War II, but almost no one knows about it or what followed,” he said.
