It has been 800 days since Philadelphia experienced 2" or greater rainfall on a single calendar day (March 23, 2024). Typically, this occurs about 2 days per year on average. #PAwx
May 31st: One of the most infamous & deadliest days in PA weather history:

•1985 Tornado Outbreak: Deadliest outbreak resulting in 65 deaths & PA's only F5
View of a thunderstorm producing cloud-to-cloud/cloud-to-air lightning & a rainbow looking east from Fredericksburg, TX last night. #txwx#weather#stormhour
Updraft region of a severe thunderstorm with transient supercellular qualities (note the wall cloud attempt) producing hail up to 2” in diameter east of Fredericksburg, TX earlier this evening. #txwx

10 years ago today (5/25/16), the long-track Chapman, KS EF-4 tornado which traveled 26 miles +/- & lasted 90 minutes +/-. We watched the tornado from its inception grow & strengthen quickly. Still the strongest tornado I have seen in person to date. #kswx#stormhour
Continued 10 years ago today (5/25/16): While we were en route to the Salina, KS area, we saw this beastly looking supercell with a significant overshooting top looking NE from near Hutchinson, KS. Reminded me of a similar overshooting top produced by the Cleburne-Granbury, TX supercell on 5/15/13, so we continued to beeline towards it. #kswx #stormhour
10 years ago today (5/25/16), visible satellite imagery at 1811z (per College of Dupage) revealed a distinct boundary generally oriented west to east across the I-70 corridor in Kansas. This boundary would play a significant role weather-wise later that day. #kswx#weather
