@AntonEberhard@Eskom_SA Still Eskom refuses to allow their customers to do NET metering stopping the monetisation of hundreds of megawatts of existent energy surplus during the day which will be a cheap energy source. Immediate solution which will unlock lots of extra generation.
@chrisyelland How about immediateness of solutions? with the very weak generation capacity at the moment why not to unleash all the already installed capacity at homes and Industry as SSEG? This will only take political will for appropriate meters replacement and can be done quickly.
Is @Eskom_SA sleeping at the wheel? Numerous customers with Solar SSEG applications pending for weeks and months for answers? Multiple daily follow ups leads nowhere, purposeful strategy to deny them access? #eskom#SolarPower
@AntonEberhard@chrisyelland@kruger_wikus@PowerFuturesLab@UCTGSB Not so true in the PV part at least. The article compare prices on round 5 with prices in Europe. The latest bid in Spain (Oct'21) for Solar Pv closed at 0.03554 USD/Kwh or 0.55 Zar/Kwh. Round 5 prices hovered around 0.37 Zar/kwh for Solar PV!

@chrisyelland The solution is simpler, Implement TOU tariffs and net metering for City Power users. Excess energy traded back to the city from PV systems can be stored in BESS systems and sold at a cost representative tariff during peak times.
Congratulations to our South African partner, @EasyPowerSolar, on their outstanding work in design and installation using Schneider Electric’s CL string inverters that meets the highest standards in Industrial Safety and Quality.
