Work from my post-doc w/ Julie Boland @UMich Weinberg Institute was just published in PLOS ONE!
The title kind of says it all: "What do we learn when we adapt to reading regional constructions?"
(specifically 'needs Ved' & double modals)

@jkdempc I agree that this doesn't have to become a labelled thing, but I also would never advise an undergrad to go straight to grad school. Most of the people that I know that found out grad school wasn't for them after 3-4 years were those that didn't take time off in between.
@Sff809 I've been a Zotero user from the beginning and have been pretty happy with that choice. Good luck to you, I guess? Hopefully after the hassle of switching platforms it will be smooth sailing!
Yay for pretty much all of the flights to Boston out of Toronto yesterday being cancelled due to atmospheric & seasonally appropriate fog! (/sarcasm)
I was *supposed* to be giving a poster examining if children's verb biases in interpreting globally ambiguous sentences can be overcome by priming in today's poster session at #BUCLD47, but I'll be giving it in tomorrow's (Saturday) session on morphosyntax instead!
Hey @UofT students! I'm a linguist at @UTM! Do you know more than one language? I want to hear about your lived experience! Submit your story for a chance to get it turned into a comic strip!🤩 More info here➡️ https://t.co/Fi0Kb97P64 #limage @global_uoft @UTMIEC@utmlangstudies
Transformers as models for cue-based retrieval? Tzu-Yun Tung has the good news, and the bad, today at #AMLaP2022 (Spruik F1, virtual, starting 17:15 UTC+1)
For anyone in York for #AMLaP2022, I'm presenting a poster in this evening's session (18:30-20:00BST) on whether or not 5-year-olds can use priming to overcome their reliance on verb biases in interpreting PP-attachment in globally ambiguous sentences.
Come visit me at Poster 9!
@jkdempc I think I define pre-prints in a different way than you do. To me, they’re papiers that have gone through the review process and have been accepted, but that won’t be “printed” (whether physically or digitally) by the journal for some months due to backlog.
@jkdempc But the kind of work you’re talking about is definitely one way to get work to see the light of day that you may never have the time / energy to complete properly 😂
@clukyanenko Just to follow-up on the EB discussion, I think SR Research actually has an option that is a flashing dot (that maybe changes colors?) option. I think this was suggested for infants, but could work for your younger kids too.
