@Shrink_at_Large Considering how vague the symptoms are and how many cross overs there are with other illnesses, I consider more and more everyday that it doesn’t even exist. It’s cheap to ‘treat’, blames the abused for bad behaviour & great for putting all responsibility onto the patient

Makes another thing feel unreachable for the actual SU. There’s so many drab walls in the SU waiting area and where people sit, you can’t really see that wall v well. Hopefully it will boost staff morale each time descend for an appointment. It needs raising in that place. 🙏🏼

Amazing piece of work! It’s a shame not more care has been put into the placement. It’s the only wall that’s purely staff access -their grand entrance coming down the stairs. When sitting in that intimidating space, there should be work on the SU level😩

@Shrink_at_Large Most treatments for this are behavioural therapy DBT to accept it and just move on and shut up. The focus for change should be on the perpetrators and survivors need care & compassion to work through the violation and shattering of future self that the crime brings with it.

4/4Thanks to luck, friends and family, we fought for the right treatment at the lowest time of my life and was finally screened, listened to & now my treatment for the first time was relevant and successful not detrimental. It’s a shame it’s taken 9 years that can’t be reclaimed.

I was also diagnosed with EUPD from a psych I’d never met, a system I’d never known, coming from working full time and studying. He saw me for 20 mins, even accused me of alcoholism..I have emetophobia so never had any substances but by the time you read the letter..too late. 1/4

In 2016, I was diagnosed with BPD/EUPD in an appointment that lasted no more than 25 minutes, with a psychiatrist I'd never met, with no screening tools, whilst under the age of 18. F60.3 was subsequently coded on my record and followed me everywhere.

3/4 and stigma from medical professionals. We are told to be grateful and take what your given. Keep quiet and don’t show any emotions. God forbid trying to explain a mistake in a letter. The odd thing is at no point was I actually SCREENED yet I was coded.

EUPD the sticky diagnosis of austerity - once again has fulfilled its purpose, NSFT especially seem to diagnose EUPD even in under 18s as it’s cheap to treat and let’s them off the hook if ‘something happens’ - this is another tragic case of injustice.

Support for mental health and wellbeing is not the same as treatment for mental illness.

There has been an explosion of awareness about the former and a diversion of attention and resources away from the latter.

@jk_rowling Anyone should be who they want to be, comfortably 💯. Personally, I’m proud that as a woman I can be which ever woman I want to be with any interests and any form, so far from what we used to have to endure. I worry it’s becoming reductive again with stereotypes, paradoxically.
